It seems alot of people are talking about adding CFL's to the flower room with their HPS. I understand that CFL's have a higher spectrum 5000-6500K which is primarily a blue spectrum typically used in the vegitative state. But is it worth adding a couple CFL's to the monster HPS in the flower chamber? Has anyone noticed the difference in flowering with HPS and CFL vs. just HPS? Thanks
Yes i have. I had a NL cab grow a while back i had a 400 hps running during which i dismantled my veg chamber since i had a few 3 socket cfl's i put them up 3' off the ground on the sidewalls where the 400 wasn't penetrating and there were more trichs around the area that had the cfl's than on the main colas. I use a MH and HPS side by side in the same cabinet. MH being Metal Halide it's an HID that runs heavier towards the blue. I feel that recreating natural light as closely as possible as per spectrum makes it easier for the plantto produce everything it needs to make those sweet sweet trichromes...DSP
I can't see anything negative about throwing some CFL's on the side where the HPS is very weak as well. I was at a hydro shop the other day and they were telling me about a dual spectrum light for flowering that uses both MH & HPS spectrums for flowering, the only thing was that it only came in 1000 wt. This might be a good idea!!! Pens looked tough last nite!!!! Nice to see Malkin playing like the superstar he is...
Anything ya got to do to get the light on the plants..... But .....for the price of a few cfls and the hardware for them one could just buy a 70 watt hps for 60 bucks imo.
i get my 3 socket light fixtures for 3 bucks 3 bulbs for around 10 bucks. They produce as much heat as when i break wind...DSP
my local hardware store. The 3 bulb fixtures are just in a bin contractor style they are the super simple kind that just have a cheap metal base and 3 sockets.The bulbs come in 4 packs they aren't real nice but what are they gonna do burn out on me?They're the 60 watt equiv so i think like 14 watts each. These little bulbs of mine they're gonna make it shine...DSP
Damn mybe i should try ace.....the hardware store i got one at had the plastic kind......I only use it as a lamp when im in the garden. Went to lowes and home depot.....notta...But ya I been wanting to create a new vegin area for my clones ......Have to take another look aroundassit:
