im growing 4 babies in my cupboard lined with flat white sheeting 2x2x8ft for a week now with 125 cfl enviro. theres a vent on the outside wall but i have no fan yet.i open the door for quite a few hours when lit. they are looking good but my temps wont get above 72f and above 32 humidity. is this normalish?they look healthy ive watered a few times but im just paranoid things will go wrong soon i plan to flower under 250 hps cheers
Temp and humidity look fine to me. temp will increase a few degrees with the HPS, simple misting will bring humidity up
hi, so far everything sounds ok but u mentioned that the vent is on the outside wall? that means when the cupboard door is closed there is no air circulation inside. The fan should sort that out but do it as soon as you can. Not only will it help circulation but remember you want your plants to have strong stems too. Assuming you're keeping the ballast/transformer (which gets pretty hot) separated from the cupboard, with the hps your temps will still get higher. If it gets too hot you might want to hook up an extractor fan to the cupboard door itself, which would be better solution in the long run and you wouldn't have to keep opening the cupboard door. A bowl of water in the corner would help with your humidity if you're not there to mist the plants regularly. Its always better to fully prepare a grow space before you actually start growing because shifting and changing midway through your grow can be a nuisance. I've grown many crops in a similar cupboard space to yours when I first started and the first few grows had to suffer a little due to the re-organising of space. hope this has helped you some and good luck with your grow. peace!
cheers nature boy much appreciated 4 any help as im new to this. my cupboard is next to an outside wall meaning theres fresh air coming in the vents all day and i keep the door open quite alot.ive just got myself a small pc fan hopefully that will make the stems stronger?
Perhaps you could cut a hole or direct the fresh air directly from the vent into your cupboard? Keeping the door open a lot is fine except the problem of losing some light... maybe keeping it slightly ajar rather than completely open. If you've got four plants in that space you wanna make the most of the light your plants get. Depending on how big your pc fan is, i once tried with a 6 inch one, it will help by keeping it blowing on your plants so they dance around, which will strengthen them. However, 3-4 weeks in that may not be enough.. A small standing fan or a table top fan..i dunno what u call them exactly, might be a good investment n they dont cost that much. Your plants might still grow ok without a fan but all i'm saying is the better the air flow is in your closet, the healthier your plants will be.
Lots of fo;lks here love to tinker. I tweek my room every year. Sometimes I just build another LOL Cold air in warm air out. You can place a pot of water in the area to increase humidity. But more important is to water the plant correctly so it transpires well. Again this is a fine place to ask questiuons.
