I wanted to do a grow log on this one. After reading all about Mandala I got really excited to grow some of their stuff. I planted 8 beans 5 days ago following their germination guide which is different than most. One has popped tall and I'm still confident the others will follow soon. /monthly_2012_06/mndla.jpg.11e4e964bda3f7dc2c0fe788a8517e99.jpg /monthly_2012_06/sprout.jpg.ae2f31b8e1455e8023e6bc6902ba72e0.jpg
I saw this strain advertised. Somebody on here grew this one out I cant remember who thow. Seems like it was joe but cant remember. t6
You are correct, sir. :not-worthy: I grew out the Kalichakra a few years ago. I may even still have a few beans floating around here somewhere. http://forum.growkind.com/showthread.php?t=35370 Honestly, I wasn't very impressed with it, but I had a lot of problems too. Mainly spider mites. Hopefully you have better luck than I did. :thumbs-up:
I'm starting to get skeptical Joe. They brag about how big and healthy their seeds are. I didn't see any difference what so ever between their seeds, any other bought seeds or even seeds I made myself. They are taking longer then I expected to sprout too. I'm hoping they turn out good. I'm staying optimistic. With a friend's help I'm trying to clean up my gear too. For too long I've been a hack and had problems. I'm aiming for a good solid healthy grow with my new equipment and a lot of learning. I wanted to do a grow report and then a smoke report to train myself to keep better records and stay more focused.
When I grew it; my operation was fairly hack too and I was dealing with multiple issues. I had converted a small closet and had heat issues, air filtration issues, mite issues, odor issues. I was constantly chasing problems, and for every problem I solved I seemed to create 2 more. It was a mess, but I made it work and learned a lot about what not to do. I can't wait to see how you do.
Mandala gear has always done right by my me.:thumbs-up: Never hit the Kali tho. Didn't Tony grow out Kali at one time also?
So far I'm pretty unhappy. I followed Mandalas germination guide and only one bean sprouted then died off. The two that i saved are being germ'd the way thats always worked in the past. Hopefully these will grow. I havent heard anything bad about their stuff so i dont know whats up. Pretty bummed.
I would contact Mandala directly and I bet that they work something out with you. Good breeders usually back up their gear. Tell them you followed their instructions and your results and see what happens. asssit:
I grew (once) Satrori and Hashberry. Last time I'll ever waste the time and money on anything Mandala!
Well, that was an expensive flop. Not one of the ten seeds from Mandala took off. One germinated then died off. I emailed Mandala and they blamed me and pretty much walked away from their gear. They tried to tell me the ph down i use (mad farmer) is no good and that i shouldd only use vinegar. Great customer servic e. I wont be using them again.
That's a bummer man. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I'm beginning to think that I got hermie prone seeds from Mr. Nice. I had a couple herms in my Shark Shock plants and most of my Med Man have hermed as well. I dunno. I'm disappointed too. I spent $300 on my Mr. Nice seeds. I still have a whole pack of Master Kaze unopened from Mr. Nice. I sure hope they aren't herm. I'm in no rush to grow them out now. Moving on to my Cali Connection and Fusion gear.
While I never grew Kalichakra, I've grown several other Mandala strains with great results. Except for one batch of Sadhu, I've had near 100% germination rates and large, fast-growing, healthy plants. I don't know about using chemicals though. I grow organic--just filtered water and organic ferts. I don't add anything to change the pH of the water or anything else for that matter. I haven't even checked pH for years. And germinating in soil is a bit different than in paper towels. It takes a little getting used to. New sprouts will die if they are kept too wet and/or don't get enough oxygen. Whatever you do, DON'T cover your seedlings before or after they sprout. Humidity domes may be great for clones, but are bad news for new sprouts. What I do when germinating directly in soil is: fill 18 oz party cups with plain soil, just a bit of perlite added, and drain holes in the bottom. I soak the soil good before planting, then leave them sit uncovered until they sprout. At that point, I start watering normally, in other words let them get fairly dry before giving them a good soaking. If you keep them too wet before or right after sprouting, they will shrivel and die.
Im pretty sure it wasnt anything I did Tony. Ive germinated plenty of seeds in soil before and in fact, the freebies that came with these sprouted like champs in the same soil. I held back two seeds to keep for later. I tried germing those in paper towels and they didnt do a thing. Im pretty sure the seeds were bad from the start.
The first batch of Sadhu I bought had a very poor germination rate. I think I ended up with 2 out of 10 that survived. But I blame that on the Attitude--I think the seeds were old. Since then, I've been very happy both growing and smoking Mandala's genetics, as my grow logs here will testify to. I guess all I'm trying to say is don't get too down on Mandala. I think they offer quality (and unique) genetics at reasonable prices.
