Hello, I signed up for this forum a few months back, but am just now introducing myself. After 9 years of living in Japan and only being able to smoke a little bud a few times a year, I have decided to take matters into my own hands and grow my own. I ordered some seeds and and have some 3 week old seedlings sitting under a flourescent lamp. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out. - Hank
Konnichci wa konnichi wa wa! (Michael Franti) :welcome: to :GK: I'm sure you'll find this site very welcoming and quite entertaining. I look forward to growing to know you better.

They are really strict. "Penalties for possession or use of marijuana in Japan are severe, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and fines. Possession of any amount, as little as 0.1 gram, is punishable by jail sentence for up to 5 years and/or a fine of up to 30,000,000 yen." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_cannabis#cite_note-26 "To be caught smoking weed in Japan is a very big deal. Their justice system is efficient and precise at measuring out your sentence, no matter how much influence you may have in another country. There are many foreigners languishing in Japanese jails who were caught bringing in a stash to get them by while they were living and working in Japan. It is a social stigma to be caught and many Japanese parents fret that if their child goes overseas to visit or study they will become either pregnant or start smoking pot and then not be a proper worker/citizen. Marijuana is considered by many to be as bad as any other drug, and smokers are referred to as "happachuu" (leaf addict) the same as a junkie." http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/101.html
Fuck, sounds like a pretty real deal! I wish you the very best with your grow and I hope all goes as planned for you. Thats some crazy shit! I'm pretty sure DUI's are a very serious offense, in Japan too. You got my full support and best wishes. You got some fucking balls!:notworthy:
Yes, they are. Japanese are, in general, conformists and group thinkers. A few years ago there were 3 or 4 bad drunk driving accidents near to each other in time. Like a school of fish, Japanese people's thinking shifted all together and drinking and driving became a very serious no-no. There is no legal limit at all for alcohol. If you even drink one beer, or even half a beer or whatever with your meal, you are supposed to wait until the next day, basically, before you drive again. There is IMMENSE peer pressure on this point. The social stigma attached with a DUI is huge, as well. There is no reasoning with them about limits. It's black and white.
try this again Yeah, I just Googled the word welcome, and thats the result I found...I apologize. ようこそ to :GK: Hank asssit:
Now I understand why you're the one and only grower from Japan! You do have some balls....or you really like your smoke. Stay safe friend. :anibong:
