I'm planning on getting a 4 x 4 x 7 (feet) grow tent. I'm trying to figure out what kind of lights I need. I'm thinking about getting a 250 watt MH lamp for the veg phase and a 1000 watt HPS lamp for flowering. I'll buy two separate ballasts. Any comments/suggestions?

I think you could just use the 1000 hps for the hole grow, as a 250 mh is a little small.

I used a 1000 mh for the hole grow and had huge sweet buds.

    What Growdude said.....

250's don't do much of shit....if you have the extra $$$ to spend, get yourself a 400MH for veg then throw that 1K badboy to them for flowering...it will also save a bit on the electric bill as opposed to straight 1K

would a 600 MH be better for veg phase than a 400 MH?

you should get a digital 600.. it's worth the $$$ plus you can run both bulbs from the one ballast.. a MH for veg and a HPS for flower..

If you can't afford a 600 digital then get one of those dual 400(800w total) mh and hps ballasts setups.. i bet that would be a better investment if you can't go digital..

i think 250w is fine for veg. no need in waisting that extra money for 1000w just to veg under. you can totally veg under flos so you know that a 250w MH would be plenty for.

they make "switchble ballsts so you don't have to have 2 ballasts.

i have seen a cupl of those grow tents that are pretty sweet. would love to see your setup in there.

    i think i'll probably go with a 600 MH and a 600 HPS

One thing I should mention is that I live in a very hot part of the world. I anticipate having to keep the air-conditioning on all day, every day. Because of this, I think I should be concerned about the amount of heat my lights put out. (Keep in mind I want lights for a grow tent that will be 4 x 4 x 7 (feet). Would it possibly be a better idea to go with a 400 MH instead of a 600 MH for veg phase? Would this release significantly less heat than the 600 MH? I could still use a 600 HPS for flowering -- and in that case I would buy 2 ballasts.
