so im getting these apparent strains from a good friend. im not sure how many i should get cuz he rooted them now and i have to wait 3 monthsish too put them out.(june) anyways , i was planning on getting 20 top ten, 20 elephant, 20 or 40 bc big bud, and from another person 50 northern lights. ive never heard of the first 2. i planned on putting them out in groups of 5 everywheres cuz something always happens when i only put out like 30 half go missing. anyways, my problem is i dont do indoor and am getting the 20 top ten really soon. wat is the min size pot id be able to keep each in separetly? i need 3 months, theres still snow on the ground..i dont really do indoors but i know theyll get pretty big in that time.how many lights would i need i got 3, 35 w sunblast flouros about foot and a half long. i know it wont be enough so how many more ull think i need. any advice appreciated. also those will be huge so should i even bother with the other 3 kinds ill have to find room. i wanted selection but he kinda fucked that up. did not expect them this early.:bong-2:
how small that i dont get root bound, wont they stretch if they dont have enough light? i was told to prune them but after 3 months theyd be some bushy
so how many lights could i do that LST thing or topping better? i was also thinking of just transplanting them every 2 weeks into plastic cups a lil bigger each time, or do u think its a waste of time?
For me, trans from SOLOs to final pots (3 or 5 G) is a real PIA! Screw that. If I heard you correctly, you want to keep clones ready for outdoor planting, without things getting out of control. If so, I say pots about those size, fert. as little as possible (keep 'em healthy, though), and no real training (they'll get bushy enough if you top as much as you may have to). For clones to wait 'till June (?), I'd not try to encourage too much growth. I'd rather move 2' plants than... :growin:
I'm no seasoned veteran, but I'll share what knowledge my experiences have given me thus far. The plant stretches to reach for a light when A: the plant feels that the current intensity of light is is receiving is insufficient for its maximum photosynthetic potential, and (not or, AND) B: the light is some distance (either a short, or long distance) away from the plant. That is to say, there must be some distance to provide a reason for the plant to stretch. At the risk of sounding condescending, which is certainly not intended, you eliminate stretch by eliminating EITHER of the above two circumstances. If the light is intense enough, regardless of its distance from the plant, the plant will not stretch. If the light is weak (speaking relative to available indoor grow lighting sources) but it is right on top of the plant, well then... there is no place to which the plant can stretch, if the idea is to get where it already is (right next to the light) E.X. If you're using a 600W Metal Halide that is 4-5ft. away from your seedlings, they're not going to stretch. In spite of the distance, due to the high discharge nature of metal halide they are receiving enough intensity (disqualifies requirement A above). To be honest, in this scenario I personally worry more about killing a seedling / young plant due to light intensity shock. E.X. If you're using a 15W compact fluorescent, and it is 1" away from your plant, that plant will not stretch. In spite of the relatively weak light being used, there is nowhere for the plant to stretch. Container size and rootbinding. Rootbinding in and of itself is not harmful to the plant (unless it gets carried away), it will simply slow down its growth and may shock it a bit. While stunting growth is typically undesirable among cultivators, it's actually what you're aiming for so it works out well. Furthermore, MJ (and most plants) attempt to achieve a balance between its root mass and its top growth. If the roots are ridiculously established but the plant is only 10" tall, the plant will try to focus on top growth. So, as already suggested, simply continue to prune it, and you will maintain them in a perpetual state of uphill ice skating, trying to grow larger on top. In short, use as small a container as will be convenient for you.
awesome thanks u two, its probably a dumb question for u two, i just didnt wanna waste my $. i think im still gonna get the other strains. i told buddy not to even cut them till like may. u know if theres anyway to change the name of a thread? just didnt wanna make another one for pics when i get them. i think the mods despise it lol. but thanks again if i do make another itll be like ns 2011 or somethin. im so excited :flyy:
