Here are my two Big Bang (fem)... And here are my Skunk 11 (fem)... One of the Skunks split into two main branches. It's growing great it just looks like I topped it as soon as it sprouted. I think I'm going to let these just grow on their own for the most part. No LST or such. These were vegged for 28 days. This is day 2 of flower. Feeding 1000ml nutes every other day.
Update... Big Bang at day eight. Very compact plant... The Skunk are both doing well also. This is my funky one... Notice the wide, flat stem? It's about the same shape as a carpenters pencil. Oh well. Like I said, it seems healthy.
I wish! Nah, I imagine the yield will just be distributed between the two sides, kinda like an extreme topping. We'll see.
i would like to see an AB style experiment when you top the plant and each new growth shoot after it recovers from the previous topping, see if you can get 10 or 15 main growth shoots.. might be agood idea.
Update... Wow, long time between updates. Here are the Skunk 11 at day 45. They still have at least three weeks to go... And the Big Bang. Prolly two more weeks for them... I've also started flushing two Satori clones. Building a little stockpile because after harvest I plan on shutting down long enough to get some new seeds and a 600w digital HPS. I never intended to have six plants going in this room at one time, in fact I prefer to do one or two. Oh well, got a little carried away...
looking very nice jm8. I'm looking forward to some dried bud pics smoke report on the skunk 11. btw what seed bank are they from?
How's it going Smarmy! That's Green House Seed Co. for the Big Bang and DP for the Skunk 11. TBO, I got the Skunk because it was only $22 at the time, which is pretty cheap for fem seeds. I'm glad I got it now.
Update... Here they are at day 57... The Skunk are starting to fatten up nicely. Prolly two more weeks... I started flushing the Big Bang on Saturday so I'll harvest them at 9 weeks. They are getting real frosty...
WOW! Look's like after MrD and I get thru smokin' all of MrGJ's and Sombud's stash, we'll be headin' West! :jj:
Way to go JM8. Please share some of your wisdom.., Looks great, what you got goin' over there. Congrats!! Please help. We have purple erkles the same age as yours, 63 days. They're like diamond mines turning a little cloudy and are beautiful and oh so close. However, how red do the triches really get. Can going too long cause the buds too lose their power? We pulled our very first harvest, super silvers, a little too early I think. Before there was really any change in the color of the triches. We were told 58 days. But the strain guide on this site says up to 65. Can that be why it didn't seem as potent as it's reputation claims? So, my point is, I really have no idea what I'm looking for even though my instincts say wait. I don't want to blow it. Looking for tips please.:icon_confused: Thanks in advance.
Use your strain guide as an estimate. Not all strains show a lot of amber trichs, at least in my experience. When my trichs are all cloudy I start my flush (7-10 days). Try a little sample, it will help give you an idea how long you need to go for the high you want.
Yeah and another rule of thumb that realy does work is when 50%-60% of the pistils (hairs) on your ENTIRE PLANT (not just a few buds) turn color like red, orange, brown,or what ever, it means the flowers are dieing off and the plants reprodutive cycle is over (which is all buds are is flowers for reproducing) and it is time to harvest, also like most do looking @ the trichs through a loupe and chopping when 1/2 are amber red, well like it was said before some strains won't make "amber" trichs so harvest when almost all are "milky" or "cloudy" another factor to consider is the type of high you want?, do you want a major "couch lock" or a nice "UP" high? I grow for my little brother who has spinal cancer and have been doing so for many years and I harvest @ different times for different "highs" as to give my lil bro a choice depending on how he is feeling that day, if he's down in the dumps he gets a "up" high (harvesed when trich's 1/2 clear & 1/2 were "milky") if he's in alot of pain and can't sleep he gets a "couch lock" high ( harvested when trich's were mostly "amber" to "milky" white) yes I do grow more then 1 strain for different reasons but a single strain can give different "HIGH'S" depending on harvest times, this plant is only 38 days into flower notice no pistiles ae dieing but it is covered in trichs if I was to harvest in the next ten days it would be a real "up high" and this one is also 38 days into flower but a different strain and notice some of the pistiles (hair's) are starting to turn color allready so this one will be harvested sooner, I hope this helped some...
hmm I would make a few adjustments to badlands statments. judging by pistils I would have to use the rule of about 75-80% of the entire plant having red pistils, or if juding by a loop I go with either molstly(pretty much all) cloudy or 10-20% amber. Waiting for 50% amber to be seen just won't happen on some strains until late and by that time everything has been degraded a lot. Also, having 50% amber wont only put you on your ass and make you not want to move all day but it won't have as long of a shelf life. That's only really a problem though if 1. you got shit you gotta do and 2. if you plan on keeping the buds around for a while maybe.
Harvest... Here they are. Plant #1... And Plant #2... Harvested at 63 days. Not a huge yield for two plants, but the buds are hard and heavy so I should still end up with a decent amount. Now, just another 10-12 days and the Skunk will be finished also. Then I can take a little break and order some more seeds.
