Hey folks, Years ago I posted on OG under the same name ReznRubr. When OG died I went my own way until now. Been growing my own stash of red sativa for years...over ten at least and finally lost the strain. One maybe two grows a year of 6-10 plants in soil (organic now but used to do the chem route). I delayed a seed grow way to long and my last twenty beans never germed so I looked up Cannaseeds and ordered a completely different strain....Shanti Devi...a shiva. Heavy indica influence. Cannaseeds shipped quick btw. I give about half my grow to my ex-wife for chronic back pain and currently a friend in chemo. I started growing to stop having to deal with street weed and the exposure that entailed. I'm in my forties and getting busted or outed in my community would definitely cramp my career and community standing. Any advice on shiiva strains would be helpful as I'm used to ultra long grows with lots of topping and bending to control unwieldy stretchy sativas. My light set-up is 6-150 watt HPS and 3-70 watt hps in a 3'x4' grow space. I sprout under flouro four the first few weeks. Hello to all and I am looking forward to posting my shiva garden as it matures. Res
friend. You won't find a nicer group of potheads anywhere on the web. I look forward to seeing your garden. assit:
^^^^ Good on ya Bro! Pay it forward...right on... Much green karma!! Glad yer here..welcome... Happy Harvests! :qbluewacko:
Thanks for the warm welcome it feels good to be openly communicating with a 420 friendly crowd again, albeit in a completely detached medium. I came across an addition that some minneapolis growers may find interesting. Check Craigslist and search HPS. I just picked up 5 more 150 watt hps for $5 each from a property manager converting a parking garage from HPS to Flouro. He has a hundred of them. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/for/871310820.html I hope this does not qualify as a solicitation! just help for some possibly cash strapped growers or some first time gardener wanna's. Res
Not really >>>Damn thats alot of lights... and lets see the pics of the grow room.>>> Not really Neon420. It's 1120 watts total on a 12 square foot grow space. I like to spread my lights for even coverage and keep as close to 100 watts per square foot as I can. Besides I get my 150's for free or cheap when warehouse buildings are renovated or parking lot lights get replaced. I posted elsewhere that if you search Craigslist most building managers try to sell these off cheap rather than throw them away. I posted a garden start page with just my flouro starter and pots. Will update as soon as I move the shivas into the oven then you will see what I'm talking about. 11 germed 7 sprouts. If I'm lucky I will get 3-4 fems. Going to seed one so in a best case scenario only 2-3 smoking plants. Going to have to start another grow immediately after this one.
Just thinkin...yes, multiple small lights WOULD be interesting..... BUT I suspect 100 W per sq ft is WAY overkill?! At least it is in my humble little exp., thus far....and naturally, one is NEVER done learnin!.... :icon_confused: BUT There's my .02! :qbluewacko:
Hey Solo Maybe overkill but I was used to growing a light loving sativa. Never had airy or light buds. I just set-up what I had and figured nothing could come close to the sun in power. Dunno, it works fer me and like I said...cheap...cept for the electricity bill but that's still cheaper than buying weed someone else grew at 400 an oz. Be well,
There are still some of us old OG members floating around. BTW, I responded to your post about a spicey strain, and what you said here just confirms my thoughts. Highland sats get way more light than lowland sats in the natural environment, simply due to being exposed to higher light levels at the higher elevations in tropical jungle environments. Lowland sats dont like as much light, since they are heavily shaded naturlally by the thick jungle canopy. If your sats liked lots of light, they are more than likely a highland sativa from S. A. I understand RC is going through sentencing right now. Good luck to him. Cheers and good growing to you.
, and Good to see a Medi-Grower too! Ya man....S.A, is (Wait.....) SA? ya meaning South America or South Africa?? Im no sure, but i totally agree with the highland races, they will Obviousely Catch the light way more than he ones that sit at the bottom of the moutain, lol,Coz Africa has some of the BEST weed you CAn get ahold of, well some of it anyway.... So bassically thats most likely why your R-Sativa LOVED the Amount of sun you were giving it, and those SATIVAS are the Buisness, are they not?? Very Potently And an Extreme High IMO!! Love em all, well Partial to a lil INDICA now n then too. Good to see ya aboard the GK-Sumit!!! Will be delighted to see such strains being formed in these conditions you speak of my good man!!! 100 watts per? Hmmm...Interesting! Will be a looking out for this Growing my good man, Im sure alot of us will be, Keep it up, Liking the topic at hand here, or sorry, lol, the Topic's (plural)!!!:laughing5: Anyway, Grow-on, UrBigBuddie........... :jj:
Thnx bigbud The Red Sativa is lost. No more of that here. As explained earlier. My last bunch of seeds never germed. So I came back online looking for new ideas. With that thought in mind, I did just order some Bambata and Mex Sat from cannabean to play with after the shiva grow is done. The idea of lots of light is right in line with my style in over ten years growing this particular strain. The seeds came from Creel Mexico (Copper Canyon region, Chihuaha) about a dozen or so years ago. Arid, mountainous and I tried to imitate that indoors with whatever was on hand. Twice I let a girl get pollinated for fresh seeds. Waited too long this time. Yeah the red sat was a narco high. Nothing like the Panama of my youth but still pretty nasty.
Before letting the thread die a quick light picJust a thought. A quick light rack pic. They glow orange because it is cold here in the northland and they just were justt started for the first time in over a year. Once warmed up the can cook hard enough to give you a tan. about the quality. Not alot of room in the attic, /monthly_2008_10/57a6c9cc3fb32_shiva32908a.jpg.f9c77eb0c0f1c1a397eeeb68d99b1942.jpg
