Hi all - approaching 30 days of my outdoor balcony grow - bagseed, no nutes, just water & soil!!! Jogging has worked great so far, though my runts in the smaller pots are definitely suffering from not having enough room for the roots to grow. When should I transplant into 5gal pots? I believe if you do it too soon it can stunt growth - right? Not seeing alt nodes yet, any idea when I can expect to know the sex? With my indoor grow I believe it was around 6 weeks, but not sure with outdoor especially this early. Here's some recent pics: http://www.box.net/shared/9mci1p9zhn
hey nice and healthy looking plants, they seem to be happy with what you're doing Here's my 2 cents- separate the two plants in one pot, and plant them in their own...if you do it now it won't stunt them too bad. But if you wait longer their roots will get very tangled and you'll have problems with separation. About transplanting- you can leave them in their pots another couple of weeks, there is no way they are rootbound at this size  You can tell if they need to be transplanted into bigger pots, when the pots get dry after 1-2 days, or if you see roots coming out the bottom of the pots. About them showing sex- only time will tell. Some plants show preflowers early in veg and other don't until their almost flowering...so its impossible to say for sure. Either way keep it up and make sure to let us know how it goes :fly:
Thanks link - so how would I go about separating them? I guess I'll just tap them out and gently shake the excess soil away and the root balls should come apart right? Like you said, probably too early to be root bound but I don't want to hurt my healthiest plants! I was hoping to know the sex before transplanting, but it sounds like that might not be an option if mother nature decides to wait...
for separating them I would use your hands. Just scoop your hand under one plant and carefully pull up. Make sure you get the majority of the rootball, and if only a few roots rip it won't be a big deal  edit: taping them out would work too of course
