Getting ready for this season. Off work early today so I'm gonna get my soil mixed up. Never made my own before but I have seen some awesome gardens where they made their own so hopefully I'll be successful as well
Learned a valuable lesson. Never leave fish emulsion bottle out with a chow hound dog!! She popped it open and it's all spilled out, it was BRAND NEW DAMNIT. now I gotta see if she's ok and read the warning label. Hopefully not vet bound
Here's my soil. Initial ph was 5.5. So it's looking good. /monthly_2013_03/image.jpg.2440b802f22dbf61cf3147ab7b01624a.jpg
Damn man! After a quick search it shouldn't kill the pup, but he might stink for a while. I would still contact the manufacturer or a vet if you got one that will give you advice without a visit. Some people suggested contacting poison control, but I am not sure all of them give out advice when it comes to pets.
Have to upload separately webs being a whore:wtf?: /monthly_2013_03/image.jpg.0382dd70bd131f9a5e1ac23a57ddab23.jpg
:thumbs-up:She's ok, but like you said smells like horrid stink bait. Now I just have to keep her out of my mix!! Got one more pic to load for now then it's beer and bong time:redbong: /monthly_2013_03/image.jpg.70230ec9785cc4b6d5ec987078d5b93f.jpg
Your soil mix doesn't look half bad. Good luck! Post lots of pictures, we like pictures. looking forward to seeing what you got for sure!
:jj:Thanks, have you ever put kitchen scraps in yours? Like veggie left overs. Also can citric acid in lemon peels be used to adjust ph? And how about iced tea? My mom uses it on her hydrangeas. Gives the flowers a nice color, probably just leave it the hell alone though.
Learn how to grow and learn what the hell you are doing before you go messing with all of that junk. kiss.
Thanks midnight you're right of course, getting ahead of myself. Gonna start a compost pile though. Finished my germinating/ cloner cabinet a bit ago. Came out nicely and didn't cost me a dime.
It's a little cabinet I turned into a germinating/cloning thing. Here's one with the humidity dome thing in it. /monthly_2013_03/image.jpg.bf623221b9afd012a367136d3cfdf12d.jpg
I'm still a little Leary of cloning. From all the reading I'm doing it looks like I need rock wool instead of the peat pucks. It seems like the plants grow quicker as clones. Or I'm just doing some thing horribly wrong.
pucks are iffy at best, great for seeds, but i would stick to rockwool. Rapid rooters are great also, but they don't stand on their own. Cloning is SUPER EASY!!!! use greenlight cloning powder from depot or lowes and some rockwool and you'll never lose a clone. Make sure you soak the RW in 5.5 before use. Also if you little humidome has the paper shit on the bottom, use that to clone with. It absorbs some moisture and the roots grow down to it. I just had to throw one out last month because the clones literally grew all threw it and I couldn't serperate them. No Shit it cuts days off cloning when using RW...don't know why, but can say from exper it works
Cloning scares everybody at first. I've used soil, peat pucks, and plain perlite. Haven't tried rock wool yet. Lots of people have made a DIY areo cloner. Lots of different ways to clone. You'll have to try them and find which works best for you. Peace....
@ midnight, probably gonna do it simple in rock wool in the humididome at first. @ nippie, ya my dome has the mat in the bottom looks like it will be awesome. Gonna use bontone root powder I got at HD. @ dlr42, appreciate it. Finding what works for me has been a challenge, I keep second guessing myself. And I'm gonna make an aero cloner, just not till I figure out what my technique will be and lock it down. Also, how long do I wait to sex a clone?
I'm getting my 2013 outdoor girls started. I scored a bunch of Mendo Purps seeds. Hoping there's a couple nice females in there. Don't be afraid of cloning. It's not that hard and you'll learn not to get pissed when a couple of them don't take. It's a good practice for patience too. /monthly_2013_03/purps.jpg.133ec334585aa008cf0db14f8a28b10f.jpg
