How long should it take to determine gender of your plants? I heard after four weeks your plants should show gender but then i read about sexing plants and it said to cut back the light cycle until u can tell what gender they are. MY problem is that my plants are outdoors and its impossible to cut back the light cycle. My plant isnt 4 weeks yet but i have a friend whos plants are about 2 months and havent shown gender yet but his plants have had issues from day one and thats a whole other story. Im just wonderin if i have to wait until late august-september-october to tell if my plant is a male or a female?

ok thanks ranger, If you grow indoors can u cut back the light light cycle dure the veg. stage so it shows sex, then resume the regular light cycle once you know you have a female? just wondering...
#Moderation Mode you can cut the light cycle indoors to 12/12 for about 2 weeks in order to determine sex and then return it to 18/6 or 24/0, but this will stress the plant because it is not natural for the light cycle to change back and forth. i recommend you take a few clones (in case some die) and sex them. if you move a plant outside without 'hardening it off' by first switching your light cycle to 16/8 or even 14/10, then slowly introducing it to sunlight a few more hours each day before finally transplanting, then it is possible for the plant to begin flowering almost immediately. there are few places in the world where there is daylight for more than 16 hours, so if your plant had adapted to a 24/0 schedule then moving it outside where there is still 14-16 hours between sunrise and sunset can cause the plant to think it's time to bud. if you don't believe me just look at this clone my friend barnaby raised under 18/6 light for a few weeks, switched to 16/8 for another week or so, and then transplanted outside in may (without hardening her off): hindu kush in the bush Moved here
ive always like experimenting with stuff, ive tried a few different ways to get sex out of my plants, 1. i veg them inside my house for 8weeks and send em into 12/12 till they show male or female preflowers 2. let em veg for 8weeks then put like a tarp or something overtop to send em to 12/12 3. jus wait till august/sept to find out my .02
