I was planning on moving my plants outside after they sprouted inside I only had one 40 watt floro and left them inside longer than expected. the plants grew really tall about 31/2 inches tall with the four little leaves on top about 1 inch across I recently moved them up closer to the light and they seem to be doing better I was wondering if they will fill out properly if I move them outside or if they will end up being to top heavy and topple over? Any suggestions of what I should do are greatly appreciated!
If I bury to much of the steam is it posible to kill it? the stems are actually more like 4 inches on 3 of them how much of the stem can I bury?
I wouldn't bury any stem just bury the root system.. The plant will turn "PLANT STOCK" into new roots .. not needed .. Bury plant to dirt line ..If plant is weak use a prop till it get strong enough to stand on own..If it is a long seedling you can bury part of stock then no problem..
ya its a long seedling and it can barely support itself but as long as I can bury about 2in of stem then they will be fine. Thanks!!
I always bury the stem. Sometimes I even clip lower leaves off to get the rootball down deeper in the soil. New roots will grow from the buried stem providing for a much larger root mass that goes deep in the pot/soil.
Thug, Do you have a breeze blowin on those puppies? If not, get a fan.... that will hep strengthen the stem also. I noticed a difference in two days (main stem started thickening). Good luck outside..... I'm stayin inside where it's relatively safe.
I was gonna ask him the same thing racer An osciallting fan is MANDATORY in any growspace.. I leave my fan on high, almost the whole time, from beginning to end.. You will have some serious stem action before you know it..Big Main stems will bring you strong, hardy plants, with big ass Cola's. CG A lot of this.. And a high powered oscillating fan, will make this happen.. These are big main stems for a soil grow.It was all possible because of my trusty fan!! I know everyone always says to use oscillating fans to strengthen the stems but I never have and my stems have always been strong. I know a fan might be needed for clones since their stems seem to be more flexible, but from seed all my plants have always grown with VERY strong stems without having a fan (apart from the outake fan). I wouldnt say the fan is a necessary part of the growroom, but I'm sure its useful as an added extra
Harsh toke, If you think your stems are strong now, Wait til ya grow with an oscillating fan going. Not only does it strengthens the stems AND branches, it circulates fresh c02 throughout your growroom..Think about that..Added turbulance will benefit your grow in lots of different ways.. Trust me, Run a fan brudda CG
I'll second that. My first grow I didn't have the corect fan, but when I installed one for my second it made them that much happier and it showed. An ocilating fan will circulate/replenish the air (that is held by the small hairs on the leaves) which is important to the growing process and strengthen/excercise the stems emulating nature. Not only does it strengthen and thichen stems and branches, as CG and Chopstick know it creates a massive root system. The idea of the indoor growroom is to simulate an outdoor enviornment with bright light, soil (possibly containing organic matter) and wind. The plant naturally builds stronger roots to support the thick branches and foliage blowin around in the wind.
