Made some QWISO yesterday and now I'm wondering how long it takes for the alcohol to evaporate? Any ideas? It's been about 24 hrs and still looks like the same amount that was in there when I made it.

    boil it?

Don't you have to boil it over a pot of boiling water?

What kind of alcohol you using?

    91% Iso

I read on a different forum that you just let it sit there and evap. I guess I could try to cook it off

    What You'll Need

-1 quart mason jar of plant matter ( trim schwagg, buds, leaves.. whatever)

-Bottle of Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. 70%, 90% or 91 % will work fine

-Permanent coffee filter and paper coffee filter

-Evaporation plate ( make sure it's easily "scrapeable" with a razor blade)

    -Pot of boiling water

    The Method

First, bring your pot of water to a rolling boil on the stove. To prepare, go ahead and place your paper coffee filter into your plastic "permanent" coffee filter.

Put your plant matter into the mason jar and GO OUTSIDE!!!!! Now, add the ISO alcohol until plant matter is covered.

Shake for NO LONGER THAN 60 SECONDS. The length of time spent shaking is very important. Contact between the plant and the ISO for any longer will extract chlorophyl and plant sugars that will leave you with an unsmokeable green/black mess.

After shaking, remove the lid from the jar. Using your fingers to hold back the plant matter and strain the liquid through the coffee filters onto the plate.

Set plate on top of pot of boiling water for approximately 20 minutes. Alcohol will evaporate out here.

When the moisture is COMPLETELY gone, remove the plate and place on a heating pad for about an hour to remove trace moisture.

you should be left with a beautiful golden product, that will stagger you with potency and tastes of sweet hash oil from the 70's.

    Scrape and Enjoy!!!!

I would think that just a fan blowing over it would evaporate most of the alcohol out... Or a nice warm sunny windowsill.

Just put it on a heating pad set to high with a fan running on it. Easiest safest method.

Setting it in the sun will give you a red hash....long discussion about it the Hash forum. Looks cool but you'll want to cover it with a screen so bugs don't get in it...or not.

Or the least safe way, set it in a large pan of hot water on the stove. I caution against this if you have a gas stove for obvious reasons, lost eyebrows not being the least of them. Do not boil the water as the splashes from boiling H2O get into your Qwiso. A low heat around 180F should be more than adequate.

    cheers,

You can do it either way. It looks nicer if you just let it evaporate. If you put it on the stove use a double boiler and dont over cook it just as it starts to get the thickness of syrup stop and let the rest dry out. Reminds me I need to make a batch of that!!!!!!!!

Thank's for the info everybody. I think I'm just going to sit it out and wait for it to do it's thing on it's own.

I always set mine under my HPS lamp, for some reason it turns out less sticky that way as compared to the double boiler method.

    Heres how I do it.

U put in the sun for about 2-4 hours until it turns orange/red to process the chlorophyll to smooth it.

Then heating pad + fan to remove alcohol + some water.

If you have an oven that can do low temps w/ convection then when its about 5-10% volume of the original, pour the concentrated shit onto a large piece of glass around 150F and check on it every few minutes, scrape any areas running back to the center and add more concentrate. When its ready, it will be dry and have a slightly shiny appearance, then razor that shit up. Total time is about 6-7 hours for me.

Do not take it damp or it will burn like shit. Make that mistake the 1st time. It needs to be dry. It should make a nice amber brown hard ball with a great aroma. Just warm it up with your hands, or I like to take a cup of hot tea, put the ball in some foil and press that against the glass and it softens right up and becomes easy to work.
