So, what's the general consensus on re-vegging after sexing? I know it's not the prefered way buy I just don't have the room to build a seperate vegging cabinets & would like to let things grow out a bit in larger pots. The problem is that just don't have the space for larger pots until I kill of a few males. Hell I'll have to ditch a few of the girls too if I have too many. I've got room for 4-5 final 4 gallon pots & I've got 9 plants vegging now. The other option is to just transplant to larger pots and keep the lights going 12/12. By doing that I know I'll never have the root mass I'm looking for. Which road to take, that's the question. Do I risk a hermi by fucking with the lights or risk a lower yield because of a lower root mass. Duc
Just my opinion but I think I would revege them if it were me. If they are not far in they will convert back in no time. t6
Nothing wrong with re-veg I did it with a ICE plant & she turned out great stayed short & bushy. One more thing you can't smoke roots. Here is my ICE plant.
Thanks man, I flipped the switch for sexing this evening. I'll have my mind made up by the time the show their sex. Duc
That's what I do, I was asking Duc if that was an option. New strain I usually do the following..... pop the seed veg for 4 weeks clone flower the mom until sex is shown keep clones vegging during this time throw out mom's that show nuts along with corresponding clones Flower the small moms just so I can see what pheno I have This should give you a great idea of the of what the new plants will look like and by that time you will have vegged the clones (new moms) for about 4-6 weeks, letting you choose to veg longer, or use a mom to take new clones and continue the cycle (minus the sexing as you have only females left)
I sexed and reveged once and I will never do it again. Never ever. :icon_confused: It took the plants many months to grow back into normal plants. A loooong time. I got tired of waiting for some and just threw them out. All my plants were way funky and fucked up. Delayed the harvest on the ones I did take to flower by like 3-4 months, as I recall. Would have been quicker to kill them all INSTEAD of sexing them, order fem seeds and start from scratch. Just go by pre-flowers. I can tell like 90% which are which after 3-4 weeks of veg. Up pot the ones you know are females, throw the ones you know are males, leave the few remaining in small pots until they show their pre-flowers. Also, you can have a large range of pot sizes, so you can up pot what you you need to and then later when you are going to put them in flower you can go up another size. :flyy:
That be my normal routine too. So you want to put the newly sexed plants BACK into veg, right? Not 're-vegging'. Re-vegging is taking a harvested plant and regrowing it by leaving some top growth and placing it back in 18/6 (24/0, 20/4 ...whatever) lighting. You'll lose a couple weeks grow time waiting for the plants to revert and slightly raise your risk of hermaphrodites doing what you're talking about but some folks do it without any problems.
I don't have space for a seperate veg cab in my grow space so at this point cloning isn't an option for me. Having one elswhere in the house or garage would be a security risk at the moment. Maybe I can build a small wall mounted cabinet or something for the next round.. not a bad idea actually. This time I'll be flipping the lights back directly after sexing. Thanks for the correction in terminology Rez:thumbsup: Duc
For next grow, keep in mind, all strains show before 4 weeks of veg and 90% in my long experience, will show by 3 weeks of veg. To go to 12/12 or clone to determine sex makes no sense. I start all my seeds in 32oz styro cups, sex before xplant to next pot, which is final pot 7gal. Root mass will be very large. 12 days from seed pop is my earliest sexing, but anytime after 16 days i'm checking preflower locations for that male/female emerging preflower. Use magnification, i use a 7x eyelupe and can see up close. Should add, am talking healthy plants for early sexing.
I've had several plants go more than 4 weeks without showing pre flowers. It all depends on the genetics. They will all eventually show their pre flowers though. asssit:
