Just ran a side by side test with Clonex and Green Light. Green Light available at Lowes, Home Depot for $6-8 and is a powder form Clonex purchased at hydro shop for $22 gel Clones were taken Saturday and all Green Light clones have roots showing through the rockwool and have been transplanted to Solo Cups Clonex clones have yet to show roots at all but the clones are still doing fine. They seem to be ready to start on a growing again but no roots have shown through the rockwool Save your money and purchase Green Light imho. It has never failed me before and appear. works faster than the latest and greatest hydro product that cost 3x's as much. I really expected that gel would root faster than old school powder found at Lowes. Sometimes there is no need to reinvent the wheel.
nippie I just did th same thing with my BC and DBC cuts. 5with Clonex and 4 with Greenlight. All 5 rootd with clonex and showed prolific root development and very fuzz looking. I had 3/4 root with Greenlight and not nearly as fuzzy or developed as the Clonex. So while the Greenlight worke very well and the 3 cuts are now thriving... The Clonex cuts just had ccrazy roots at ten days compared to the Greenlight. Not sure thats worth the almost $20 difference in price. Greenlight = $5.99 at Lowes for 2 oz Clonex = $25 at hydro shop for 3 oz
A guy at the hydro shop I used to go to kept trying to sell me Hormex, vitamin B and clonex. He said the cheap stuff never works. I'm still a novice, but I've had the same luck with rootech, Olivia's and clonex. The only difference I've ever noticed is that with a heat I see roots faster.
It seems to me that the cheap shit worked quicker in this case. I really hope clonex is worth a fuck because I took clones of Heri, Jackberry, and some KO Kush with clonex while I was waiting for the others to root. Now that I ran the side by side I wish I would have cloned old school.
Dont worry nippie The Clonex works perfectly well and for me gave me a much more developed root struture with crazy fine hairs on them. Im sure your cuts will be fine. I like the way the gel coats the stem evenly. wereas the powder can be a bit uneven and or be wiped off the stem when inserting into plug. but I wont have to buy any for awhile lol.
If your useing a aerocloner you dont even need the stuff. I only use it to make sure it seals off any air bubbles from getting into the stem when I get the cut. If you cut them underwater you dont have to worry at all. Spending a lot of money on that stuff is foolish. t6
I use rooting hormone in powder form. I got a large bottle of it and haven't run out yet (3 + years). I used a free sample of clonex gel once - no noticeable difference in rooting time.
I've used gels and powders with similar results to yours Nip. Now it's Bontone. Cheap and effective. With the gels the clones stayed healthier longer but rooted much later.
