Royal queen seeds company is now selling to USA customer. They look to have some nice strains. Here's the link.. http://www.royalqueenseeds.com/
Thanks, Mr GJ. They do have some nice looking seeds. The Northern Lights is getting my attention since I have not grown that yet. Even a video demo of their shipping. Bookmarked BBT:thumbsup:
Possibly Bigbud214, but sometimes you can get strains directly from the breeder company that they may not market with Attitude. I was reading through them and like the Critical at 18 percent thc and a 6 to 8 week strain, just to name one. :redbong:
Yeah they are on Attitude's list. That Critical is supposed to be a real producer. I got the Critical Kush from Barney's for the yield and the shorter flower time. Looks like a lot of the breeders crossed the Critical with several others to beef up the yield. Got high hopes for it!! Be Cool, CG
I smelled a big bag of Sour Diesel the other day. Wish is wasn't a 10 week strain. That stuff smelled amazing! Little hard nuggs but man the smell! I stuck my head in a two pound bag of the stuff and man! Wonder how close the Royal Queen version is to what I smelled...
What breeder was the sour D from that you smelled? I have HSO Sour Diesel #2 but haven't found a good oheno yet...
Just got stoned and spent two hours reading every description on the Royal Seeds website. I think I'm gonna order Royal Cheese. I grew out one cheese based strain a long time ago and loved the smell, bud structure and frost coating. Looks like Royal Cheese Fast Version is supposed to be a 7-8 weeker with decent weight. Plus imagine all the fun I'll have smokin Fast Cheese :coolbounce:
FF that cheese looks pretty good. :bong-2: They have a nice selection of seeds. I think my next order will be with them. :redbong:
Ok gents, edjumacate me. Who are these guys? Why are we interested? Browsing the site looked like just another breeder doing knock-offs. What am I missing?
ResinRubber, they are a seed company whos web site I have been too before but they were not doing any business in the states. I received an email from them stating they are now delivering to the USA. So I thought I would let the members know about another web site they can deal with. Their prices seem pretty fair and they have a good selection of Reg seeds and Female seeds. The site is very informative about each strain too, and from what I can tell they have been operating out of The Netherlands for over 20 years. :redbong:
20 year history? That says something there. Wasn't knocking Royal, was more thinking...Hmmmmm knock-offs? Been there done that. Guessing that's where the $$ are in seed biz. But of you want a Skunk...go with Neville. You want a Widow....go with something that originated via Shanti. The strains are out there by the real deal guys. Ya ken what I'm sayin' boss? What always irks me is when knock off breeders throw around the term "Cup winner". They don't have the Cup winning genetics any more than I do. They borrowed the name of a Cup winner then tried to make a copy from similar genetics or by selfing. It feels so disingenuous on their part that I could never order a seed from anybody who does this. It's and in a small way cheats the guys who actually created the desired genetics. Looks like the price diff is around a 20-30% less than the real deal guys so I'm sure that's attractive too. Feeling like the ornery old fuckhead after the drools in the thread....but this really doesn't look like a place for me to shop or one I could recommend.
Ya know I had a similar thought, and even started a post about who the actual breeders are at Royal. But then I didn't because to me it seems like it all comes down to probability. What is the probability that I will grow a plant similar enough to "X" strain from the seeds I am buying? No matter who you buy from it seems like a crap shoot - so many variables. All we can do is bump up the probability a little here and there, but even buying from known breeders doesn't guarantee you'll get the real deal, just increases the probability some. And then in the end if I get a smoke I'm happy with who even cares if it's the real genetics. As for Royal ripping strains and marketing with someone else's strain name, I note they re-brand a lot of their strains calling it "Royal" this and that. For strains like Northern Lights, well hell everybody has their version of it, and as far as I know nobody has the original. I agree calling attention to cup winning strains is cheesey unless you are the breeder that made the strain and won the cup. We GKers have run a lot of knockoff strains. Nirvana didn't invent Bubblicious. In the end if Royal has mother plants that are good representations of the strain they are selling, then there is a good probability that we will get a decent pheno too. It seems like a lot of these seed companies get decent versions of famous brands, then cross them with other decent versions of famous brands to create new strains. Then call it a new name with a combo of the old names. I don't have a problem with that practice. Trying to make a buck by selling something that is not what you claim it to be is dishonest. I agree there seems to be an element to that with Royal. I guess it all comes down to the integrity of the seed company in ALL that they do. I mean if they really try to get it right and are honest about what they do, then OK. Final thought - the one time I went with a known breeder (sannies) I had less success than the previous 5 years of growing knockoff gear. And lets say I want a cheese strain. Who has the real cheese genetics? I don't know but I do believe there is a fair probability that Royal's cheese is at least as good as the next knockoff cheese if the seed company as a whole seems honest.
Agree FF. I believe it's nothing more than a market trend or ploy. The breeders and strains themselves could be off the hook amazing. GHS does much the same thing and tens of thousands of growers are more than satisfied with their gear. What it comes down to, for me, is that I find the practice less than straightforward. Understanding that there are dozens of different Cheese varieties, for example, is not the problem. Similar to a Burpee Strawberry petunia vs a Hirt Strawberry Sundae petunia. But you'll never see Burpee using an award by Hirt to promote their Strawberry color variety. It's dishonest. There's a reason that companies selling fully legal products protect the legal right to refer to those awards. But because cannabis seeds fall into a barely legal (usually illegal) market the owners as general practice don't dare enforce protection of those rights. Their market could not withstand open disclosure in a legal setting. So it irks me when companies take advantage of this wrinkle. I'm willing to assume a grower could find a representative keeper in most everything Royal offers. But it'll never be the genetics of a Cup winner of a differing variety so the label is intentionally misleading.
Yeah the marketing stuff turns me off big time. And I still wonder - WHO are the actual breeders behind the strains? Like, names. I mean these cats at Royal - if it's the same group of people breeding for 20 years - that's legit. So who is it?? You'd think anyone with that kind of staying power, even in an undergroundish market, would go unheard of for 20 years? There's an interesting thread on ROI on this very topic. Typical thread - OP was hey what's up with royal, never heard of them. Then a guy saying they suck and are rippers and hacks, then 20 posts of dudes saying I grew out their Blah-blah-blah" and it was great. OP was 2009 I think. Some suspicious posts too. But overall pretty informative. AAAAAANNNNNDDDDDD your probability of getting a hermie buying femmed seeds from an unknown breeder goes way up.
