K I've been asking this ? for a while now and no one can give me a straight answer.
Can some one explain a sealed room?

If I have a portable ac in the room, do I have to vent it? and if I do will the odor leek out?
I plan on scrubbing the air in the room but not exhausting it.
I also plan on cooling the lights with a passive air; (air from another room-through the duct work through 2 1000 watt lights and out to another room with the help of a Vortec)

But what troubles me the most is the ac????????
I checked out the split ac, is that my only option?

If you have a sealed room you cannot vent the air from inside the room.

Any lights or AC's that need air flow need to get that air from outside the room and then vent its back outside. Im not sure how that would work for air con :ponder: ive never seen one in use. Its cold here ;)

But if your running co2, id cool the lights through a sealed system that pulls air from outside the room, over the lights, then exhausts outside the room again.

that all depends on the ac

Most of them have an intake and exhaust to duct the heat the ac unit itself exchanges from the room. Most dont exchange air with the room they cool it then they duct the air from outside through the unit then back outside room again taking the heat with them

    Thanks guys!

    I am going with this

Now I do not have to worry about air getting out through the ac.

I am going to either cool tube the 2 1000's (passive system) or I am going to let the ac handle it.

I am doing a hybrid of the MPB's and what CC did with the five gallon buckets.

    hhmmm

not a good idea to use the ac to cool your 2x1,000 lights in cool tubes, you can try but i think you will be dealing with a lot of "Condensation" problems,i'd stick to the vortec you got to cool the tubes

A split is not the only option here. My grow is in my basement and i just cut a hole in the wall under the steps there was already a little shelf. I put a standard window ac on the shelf and had it blow into the room through the hole i cut used some tape to seal around it and Viola. Just know that pulling air through the hoods will transfer some smell where ever you dispose of it. When you seal up a room you do have to run CO2 you know this yeah? To make it efficient you don't vent the room just recirculate through scrubbers. There are definitely some threads about this if you search... Steelcity

    Whats HVAC?

How is your set up then? with co2? what is your system?

    I am confused again. :mashed:

Smell is an issue so the room the window ac dumps into I will need to scrub that room before venting out.

    heppa filter

I would also use a heppa filter inside a sealed room to keep the pathogens down and mold from growing I personally have a heppa deionizing filter

Why have a sealed room? Is it b/c of odor?

Whats a good portable? Every one that I have spoke to on line has said they can't keep up.

Mini split is out now, thank you for your knowledge. :not-worthy: :thumbs-up:

I think I am still going to put the cool tubes in and vent them to the other room. so I still need to cool the room and exchange the air. Especially if I don't get a co2 burner, which infact I do not know what size burner to get for my size room.

    700 cubic ft.

I am itchen to put this room together. I have been doing research for a while now and can't come to a conclusion on what type of set up to go with. HMMMM.

i got a co2 tank and regulator with timer for under 300 bucks. actually i have 2. you just set the regulator's output and the timer to the size of your room. i set mine at 4 lbs pressure and the timer at 15 min every 3 hours during the hours the lights are on. a tank lasts a good month or more and works great for me.

    hello all,

i am setting up my 1st ever room and have a question pertaining to co2...

i have a 2' w x3'l x7' h veg room and a 2'w x 4'l x7'h flower room. i was planning on drawing air from above the veg room in and then use a small axial fan to draw air from the veg room to the flower room for fresh air ventilation. im goin to run a 400W HPS in a 6" cool tube reflector. i plan on attaching a 6" in line booster fan at 250 cfms pulling air thru the cool tube and out my sewer drain to exhaust skunky air. on the open end of the cool tube im going to make a quasy scrubber from aquarium cut to size activated carbon filter pads sandwiched between just regular filter media also cut to size. basically im going to cut a small piece of duct and layer the white fliter pad then severa layers of carbon then white filter. im doing this as a barrier to help catch any moisture from entering the cool tube, which would be bad right? and figure why not scrub the air leaving cant hurt and is cheap seeing im venting to a sewer drain. planty of ordor control in the sewer lol. so my question after all this wordy lead in is...

is it possible to im prove Co2 content by making a couple of jugs of activated brewers yeast and rubber tubing? its cheap and safe no? keep in mind i will have maybe 6 - 10 plants at a time in the flower room. thanks for ny help

This guy has somewhat the same size room that I have.

    http://www.thcfarmer.com/forums/f131/first-mpb-room-21381/

and he has an ac and a scrubber pulling air out of the room. Although he must have an intake. Must not have picked it up when I was reading.

I'll have the lights in tubes vs leaving them hanging. :mashed:

Love the idea of the bottle vs a burner.
