I think that's a really good guess with Magnesium deficiency. I'd definitely say it's a problem with one of the mobile elements since it is happening on one of the lowest leaves, and your pic looks almost identical to the Mg Deficient plant in my growguide. My next guess is pH fluctuation or heat stress. It is a strange, blotchy looking sick leaf there. Ferts= Pure Blend Pro Bcuzz Growth Stimulator and Thrive Alive Green. PH has been 5.6 Tap Water PPM is 250 Neut PPM is 1118 light 400 Watt MH 2 air wands. I just got off the phone with a hydro shop and they told me that raising my PH to 6.2 will help my plants uptake Magneasium what do you think useless? Oh! I am running my system at 15/30 min. on/off (Edited by 1bossman at 5:43 pm on Nov. 4, 2003) (Edited by 1bossman at 5:47 pm on Nov. 4, 2003)
I had a thought! I am running a PVC Drip system 2 24x6 tubes for the plants. I am thinking that the plants closer to the resivor drain look good and the plants furthere away is because the plants close to the resivor are getting more Neuts. What do you think? I took the drip emiters off of the 2 end units and let it runat full flow. Since I am running at 15/30 on/off I think it will be ok. Maybe the added flow will help those 2 girls! Any thoughts? Is this what they call, "Haveing a moment of Clairty"? (Edited by 1bossman at 1:19 pm on Nov. 4, 2003)
Well, Im not sure about the 6.2 Ph for for Mag uptake. Their is a graph floating around on here that came from OG that has a breakdown of nute uptake at differetn Ph levels. I have never had a problem with a mag def. in hydro using chem. or organic ferts. I have used the PBP in bubblers with good results, always keeping the Ph at 5.2-6.0. I would adjust it to the initial 5.2, and let rise (as it naturally does) to 6.0, then drop back down again. Put the drip emitters back on, I think you might flood em if you take it off the two on the end. I dont htink its uneven distribution of nutrients if you are running 2 airstones in the ressy, that should keep it mixed up pretty good. On the thrive alive, I know there are two of them, 1 is thrive alive red, the other thrive alive green (which you have). Im have not used these personally, however I know that one is specifically for rooting clones, the other is used for veg/flower. Am I right on that? Can you tell which is which? (LOL now Im asking you for advice! )But its something to double check if you're not certain. Other than that, I think your PPM is a little high for how small they are, does your PPM rise or drop over the course of a week if you dont add water? If it rises, its too strong, if it drops, its too weak, if stays the same, its perfecto! Other than that, you could add some Cal-Mag plus from Botanicare, and see if that clears it up.
Thrive Alive (Green) is Organic (Red) is not. I put the dripers back on added and PH'd water to resivor to lower ppm. 1 Gal. didn't knock it back much ppm is now 1050. I hope these come around.
I'm gonna agree with Useless; i feel your plants are slightly burning. Why are they burning you ask? If you top off your rezzy with ONLY tap water...then it'z definitely your tap water to blame fer the steady rise in your ppm-not your hydro nutes! Solution-lower your hydro nute strength to compensate for the salty tap water...or flush your rezzy weekly instead of bi-weekly. My Las Vegas tap ppm is 600ppm...and i personally have never succeeded a hydro grow with Las Vegas Tap Water! Still to this day, i hafta use store-bought R/O water! I've even tried those filtered tap water;but since those faucet filter attachments do not filter calcium deposits-i had difficulty stabilizing my Rezzy PH. Currently with my R/O water-my bloom rezzy is goin' on it'z 11th day with its PH well below 5.8!I only used 1Tablespoon of Get Down Ph Lower(an inexpensive knock off of General Hydroponics version-$25 per Gallon)! added to my 15 gallon capacity rezzy! I attribute my astounding Ph stability to only using R/0 water. I could not replicate this success with only using las vegas tap. But on the other hand, your ppm tap is only around 200ppm...which really ain't that bad...your lucky! (Edited by ismoke2much at 3:59 am on Nov. 5, 2003)
Ok. The ressy PH is 5.25 I lowerd the ppm to 860 that is where it was when I started. I guess I did get in a hurry to up the ppm. The fert says to feed full strength for "established growth". I guess 3 weeks old isn't established enough. lol... -peace- I hope you guys hang with me utill I get this problem resolved. Better yet! Can you come over and fix it? lol.... I just finished reading a post on another web site about this problem I am haveing. In short they said that not alowing your ph to drift up to 6.0 I am not alowing my plants to get all the neuts that they need. Since mj needs them all and they all have there own ideal transfer range. Maybe the fact that every day I have been checking and corecting my ph back to 5.2 I dont give the system a chance to feed and take care of itself. What do you guy's and gal's think? -peace-
Ok. I have just finished flushing with Clearex and refliled my resivor with my nutes ph is 5.35 ppm is 722 I am useing the Pure Blend Pro Cal Mag Plus and Thrive Alive Organic. I also bought some Seabird Guano 11-13-3 but am unsure how to use it. I know I need to make a Tea but I dont want to throw my ppm out of wack. I could use some Input on this thanks! -peace-
I hope you rinsed the clearex off the root system... Make the tea with 1-2 Tablespoons per gallon, let it sit over night. You can make a concentrate, let it sit over night, and then dilute it if you want to. Only use it as an additive in small amounts, say 10% of your solution. (i.e. if you have a 10 gallon ressy, only add 1 gallon of tea) It will increase your ppm, but your running a little low, and the guano is pretty forgiving. Also, that guano you got is ideal for week 2-3 of flower. After that you will want to augment with the Jamaican 1-10-0 guano. Oh yea, make sure you strain the tea... An alternative is to make a tea bag from a coffee filter, and just hang it in the ressy. Hope that helps....
