Lets all take a moment to wish the drillers luck in their nearly complete attempt to free the 33 men trapped in a mine in Chile for over two months. I feel really really bad for those men and it's been in the back of my mind since they were trapped. I really hope they get free and in the news it's looking like they are really close!
I really feel for them now because this is probably gonna be the toughest times for them. I'm sure to see the bore hole finalized and KNOW their lifeline out is right there....but still have to wait up to 10 days to use it..will be extremely difficult. Plus it said once they reach surface only ones in exceptional health will be allowed time with family. All others will be immediately placed in a chopper taken straight to the hospital. Good luck to them all I'm sure this has been a long, tough ordeal.
Now if they dont cave in the shaft that was drilled with the escape capsul all will be well. Teamster6
I hope they are all safe and well, and that they are reunited with their loved ones. However, I must say that these types of mines are wrong to begin with. I understand that the miners are doing what's necessary to feed their families but the companies that own these mines (gold, coal, whatever) are greedy bastards that get rich on the suffering of the common people that actually work and live around these mines. They are wrong and devastating our environment. the earth is going to fight back! And innocent people will be the ones to pay the price, not the owners of the companies that are doing all the damage.
Yaya... but they still choose to work....even though ...they know the risk.......... And hell the world aint perfect. Im actually thinking that sense Mexican and Asian labor is still kinda much....... switch over to African Labor(NO Slavery!!!) but sense those people are so poor, they would be willing to work for even less money. While at the same time We get Rich and Africa get some what economy going on there !:new_alien:
Problem is Ras they are mining so we can have power to light our gardens, heat our homes, take warm showers, build our buildings. Until you or I are willing to go back to a largely agrarian society the mines will be a necessity. That or allow reactors to be built and more open pit mines for ores to be scraped out of the earth. Then we just have to deal with erosion, water pollution and long term nuclear material storage. Don't go on with wind power....we ain't there yet and won't be for a generation or more.
I'm quite ready. Believe me I understand why (coal) mines are in operation. It always boils down to societies' dependency on oil (and petroleum products) and the money made off of that dependency. There are viable alternatives to coal but they would take a change on the part of every citizen that is used to doing things one way and it would require cooperation from millions to make a change like that, nobody wants to give up the luxury of a "disposable" lifestyle not to mention that the oil/coal companies will squeeze every last drop of money that they can from this resource. The problem is that these resources are FINITE, they ARE going to run out, and it WILL be SOON.

I agree Rasganjah. When our supply runs low, our goverment WILL go to war to take from those that have. Won't matter who it belongs to. We(our goverment) will kill who ever they have to to take it. To save the "American" way of life. Wars have been fought for less. Peace.....
Well it would definetly be like the Avatar movie, where we do Take It form ppl. But I think Our World is Smart Enough and Intelligent And Civil, and will Create alternative fuel, or power. We have tons of new ways to create fuel.... New ideas are made everyday.... The only time we will do all that...is when we Run Completly Out....
Not when it runs low, it IS low now, we are beyond peak production. That means that more than 50% of the worlds oil is already gone. Not just extracted, but gone, used already. That means that the world will never exceed the highest production levels of oil that we have already seen. We ARE ALREADY taking oil from those that still have the largest reserves. What so you think the occupation of Iraq is all about? The USA and other countries as well(NATO), but especially the USA is already pillaging the Middle East. It's no wonder the muslims hate westerners, we used up all ours and now we want theirs too, just to keep up the facade that our disposable society is sustainable. IT IS NOT, but they (the government) will continue to keep up the charade as long as they can keep the public satiated. But eventually even the middle east IS going to run out of oil. Do you think the USA will have any interest in that god forsaken desert when there is no money to be made there? Think about it. Look at what is already happening in the world. It can't be denied, these are facts.
I guess we all have our own oppinions. First the reason we were in Iraq is because of Saddam control and Iraq Freedom. Alot of people of Iraq loves us now , because we gave them freedom. Plus it is some bout oil. But Afganistan War is because of Terrorists. Thats why we i are fighting in Middle east ,To Free People from Taliban Rule. And we need to kill terrorists to keep USA safe. Then the Oil thing...... I think we are defintly not 50% Out. We have so much oil underground.....so many locations. Russia is like the 3rd world leading oil produce,r they have shit load oil..... USA have so much oil in Reserve....... and Now the Ice Caps are melting and there is gonna be even more oil found In the Artic. And just think bout all the spots we dont know about. And Us is now drilling for Oil. And its not all About Middle East and Oil. Its the Saudi Arabia who gives us oil........... and we are not in their county for oil. We protect them and they areAllies so we can get oil..... it is parnership Not War. We are in Iraq and Afganistan War, because they need freedom and we need security.
I'm sorry that you have bought into the illusion that corporate media and the government spin doctors have created for the masses of sheeple that would just rather be told that everything is ok, not to worry. The polar ice caps melting is a good thing, now we can get at those oil and gas reserves. COME ON give me break! Ecologically we're on a path of destruction. The ecosystem (yes we are a part of the worlds ecosystem just like everything) is completely out of balance. And many experts DO agree that we have passed peak oil production. I saw a video of those chilean miners down in the mine and there was any mention that any of them were in poor health. How long have they been down there? I would be freaking the hell out being underground for that long..... Crazy experience to go through and live to tell about it.
