I know it is ideal to have varying temps during your flower cycle - at "night time" your temps lower, and " day time" higher. my current setup, since i am growing in a shed, i have to flower during the night, because the outside temps during the day would be too much if i also had my light on as well. right now i have both tents coming on at 8:30 PM and going off at 8:30 AM. problem is, the temperature inside my tents changes fairly well with the outside temps, and even with the lights on, say, at 6 AM, the temp in there is 62 degrees, while 4 in the afternoon, which should be nighty night time for them, is 77. if i had the light come on any earlier, i know for sure it would be way scorching hot in the tents - the highest i've seen is 92, that was in the early evening. the heat builds up in there during the day, and blam, the light turns on. overall, i think it is warmer in there during "day time" but temps are still all over the place. i have a variable speed fan, but to keep on top of the tents, i'd have to go out there around 1 am to turn it down, after it had cooled off, and 11 am in the morning to turn it up for the subsequent heat during the day. any ideas/comments???? heaters or fans? perhaps shift my on/off time??? peace GTWT :XXhippylove:
that's why an A/C is pretty much out of the question, really, and i REALLY don't have anywhere in my area to put it. overall, what will warmer temps do? if i can maybe change my on/off times a bit so that my temps are a lot more consistent (maybe 12 midnite to 12 noon on...) perhaps they wont be so fluctuating, but they would still be on the warm side, high 80's low 90's..... i think i read somewhere that much over 90 you want to avoid though.... portable ac unit all you need is to duct out of the building or grow area. i have a 9000 btu ac unit it gets near 105 outside and its all i can do to stay under 85 (although it feels cooler then the thrmometer reads) but it took a lot of insulation and [lastic to keep the cool air inplace. im running 1000w with vented hood. we will see what comes of it since this will be first harvest in this environment.
Living in an area where it gets very hot (100's at times) I run my lights on at night.. for 18/6 they come on at noon and they turn off at 6am... Once I flip they'll run from 6pm until 6 am.
I just don't grow in the summer (too hot) or winter (too cold). Today it was over 100. , I don't have any other suggestions. asssit:
ok, i got an idea.....you guyz are gonna have to some more custom wood work, and some digging. put a hole in the shed floor, 2ftx2ft, and dig.......dig about 5 feet down, and drop a fan down there, blowing upward. now you will have to use plywood, to frame out the hole in yer shed, (so nobody can see from the outside, (look at your attic door in your ceiling if you have one of those).... the point?: pulling up the cool air from the earth, (i know, it's kinda deep, but mother will protect her babies)......the Q iz....:can you convince HIM to dig... i hope i have given some help.
ha, that's the original plan the BF had - underneath the basement, secret trapdoor, etc. and then i reminded him of how much dirt we would have to dig up..... he quickly got to work on the shed!!! :roffl: interesting concept though, using the cooler air. i don't know if a big hole is feasible, but i could pull my inlet air from the coolest "sunless" corner of the shed..... hmmm..... thanks for the feedback, guys peace GTWT :XXhippylove:
I noticed you didn't say anything about humidity. If your shed is relatively dry you may even consider an evaporative cooling unit? Not sure if it would be feasible for your setup or not, just throwing some ideas out there.
