One very important, but often overlooked aspect oh hydroponic growing is water quality. In some rural areas where they use well water, and sometimes city water can have high concentrations of minerals. These may be the same minerals you are attempting to provide with your nutes. And since trace elements are only helpful to plants in the proper proportions, extra mineralization may become toxic to the plants.

It is important for the grower to take a water test from your source. This can be easily done with a PPM/EC meter. The water should not be used if the PPm is above 200 parts per million.. If so you should switch to Reverse Osmosis water. You can buy an R/O filter for your house for $150 or you can get R/O water from those "Glacier" vending machines in front of supermarkets for cheap. Usually $.25-$.30 per gallon. If you need a lot of water use those 5 gallon watercooler jugs instead of filling a bunch of gallon jugs.
