http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/01/us/florida-law-on-drug-testing-for-welfare-is-struck-down.html?_r=1& Florida Law on Drug Tests for Welfare Is Struck Down KEY WEST, Fla. — A federal judge on Tuesday struck down as unconstitutional a Florida law that required welfare applicants to undergo mandatory drug testing, setting the stage for a legal battle that could affect similar efforts nationwide....
So in reality a welfare recipient has more rights than a working man. You want to work? Piss here please. You want an entitlement check? No problem.
How can you compare pissing for a private sector job to pissing for the government for programs we all have a right to?
I'm on the fence on this one. I don't like government intrusions in my privacy, and what's in my piss is definitely private. At the same time, I see the inconsistency here, but I think it highlights the troubling powers we have bestowed upon our employers more than it highlights the possible abuses of the welfare system by pot smokers. In other words, neither employers nor the government should have a right to force me to piss in a cup.
You also have to take drug tests for government, public sector jobs. Oh, and Hi Hank! I had a question for you a couple of weeks ago, but forgot what it was....
Still a job. Getting piss tested for a job is different than getting piss tested for benefits by the government. Still looking for the metaphor. Simile maybe.
How is that in anyway confusing or worthy of you being condescending? 1. I don't think it is fair to compare getting pissed for a job to getting pissed for for benefits. 2. There is no metaphor in this thread.
Is this going to become a big deal thing because I said something, not directed at anyone, and it annoyed someone, and now my throat will be jumped down because I tried to clarify and it sounds like I am trying bait someone when in reality I was stating my thought? If so close it now and save me this drama.
That's my opinion on the issue. Private sector piss testing is still an invasion on privacy and should be illegal. Judge a person job performance by observing them. asssit: Hey AB.
It's a comparison of how the right's of one group are protected while those same rights of another group are ignored. Nobody has the right to invade my private time, space, or person. That our Government makes it easier for me to be a stoner sucking at the welfare entitlement tit than to be a productive employee who happens to toke is the ultimate slap in the face.
Im all for testing anyones job who puts or that puts other people at risk of a lifelong injury or even an opportunity for death as a result of whatever, whomever is doing.......that being said, im also for testing a certain core group of people who are sucking that titty that the government throws out there, there needs to be checks and balances for how you live your life and how you spend that government $$$ if your a gov. titty sucker I work in a very dangerous enviorment....do I want the guy that runs a HUGE D9 bulldozer smoking a fat blunt or having drinks at 5am when he has to operate at 6 or 7am???? Shit no!!! Test his ass What about the guys who drive big rigs??? test them or let them be?? maybe kill a family or 2??? What about the guy who cuts down the huge tree next door to you?? while your on your porch with your kids playing.... or the nuclear fusion scientist who has volatile substances at his disposal and does specific tests within those components.....you guys really DONT want that guy tested for drugs or whatever??? what if your son or daughter was the one who was working in the next room over? cmon guys..
