Ok I was in my room checking out my plants when this bug flew in out of no where. It is shaped like a T. The horizontal part of the T was its wings, and I saw a little stinger on its butt. I have never ever seen anything like this. I was trying to take pictures of my babys when I saw it. Then a really bad thing happened. I had my notebook in my hand and it touched my light melting some of the clear plastic onto my bulb.:wtf?: :roulette: What should I do? it is stuck on there bad. Anyways here is a pic of the bug it is really blurry because I had to hurry so I could kill it before it escaped. Crazy looking bug! It gave me the heeby jeebys! I may as well share some pics of where im at while im here. I dont think there are any hermies anymore, but I will still keep my eye open. I just wish I could get a pic that makes it look as good as I see it. Kind of like a scratch and sniff picture wouldn't that be awesome! The cola is to hard to get a decent shot because they are so close to the light.
Holy Moly! Poopy, from the size of your pics, that bug could be Mothra :5eek: Can't you re-size them? They be way too big!
It looks like a Texas Longhorn. LOL! Have you guys ever seen one of these? about the pic being so blurry, and so big at one point I figured that the closer it was the better you could smell it, but I guess thats not the case. We live and we learn.
Never mind I thought I was on to something and had discovered a new species but apparently they were already discovered. Hey but I will be the first to make a camera that will hold the smell of whatever it is taking a pic of and put it on the printed pic. That would be the best Playboy ever! Or I guess it could be the worst too, depending on the circumstances. lol But really have you ever seen this thing before, in person?
wwboy well cant say about the bug but your light with melted plastic on it id say shut it down and when the light cools take a razor blade to it--should come right off---jist remember to not touch the lamp with yer bare fingers.
That was the plan, but it kind of burned it so bad that is just flaking off. I will carefully remove the pieces when it cools. Is there anything that I can spray on the bulb to clean it? or just a dry tissue, any suggestions like water, windex and so on would be great. I felt dumb as hell after I did that, I hit my head on it sometimes to. I kind of want it to break so It makes me get a new one. I think it's lumens are not in there prime anymore. Thanks for the advice again you guys. I am a post whore lately! What do you guys think of the pics of the plant, does it look normal for 24 days of 12/12, 14 days since pistils?
Your plants look alright. You should invest in an air cooled reflector with tempered glass when you get a chance so mishaps like that can be averted. A blown up bulb can be an ugly ugly thing.... As always safety first kids!
Nope never ever seen one my whole life, my girlfriend has never either. She is from Arkansa and I live in Washington. Maybe they are just more abundant in your part of the globe. Maybe since the climate change is warming they are moving north or something lol. Just out of curiousity what light is better metal halide or high pressure sodium? equal watts. Does metal halide sell a red or blue spectrum? Same question for hps.
Go with the HPS. Look into the Hortilux bulbs (or their equivalent) Different brands use different names.
Hortilux has a new bulb on the market that has MH and HPS filaments in one bulb. Its only available in a 1000 watt configuration. The second I get the cash (almost 200 dollars) that bad boy is going in my grow room.
