Whats wrong with my butter?

    i made the kief butter, and let it boil for about an hour. After i froze the shit, it looks like the kief has sunk to the bottom so theirs like a layer of really dark brown kief and the rest is yellow butter. wtf? wasnt this supposed to mix? please tell me whati have done wrong!!!

    I've never made keif butter, but I have made canna-butter.


    Did you try straining the liquid??


    I strained the mixture through cheesecloth.


    I dunno.............try posting this in the "Pesto and Plantain Problems" forum.

    How does the butter taste?


    It may all be good ( I hope ) since we end up with green butter because we have fresh weed with chlorophyll in it and in the butter.


    I would think that no green in the source no green in the butter.


    I sure hope things turn out right for ya..

    No the THC gets absorbed in the fat in the Butter and the brown or green material sinks to the bottom..


    That's how it is supposed to work.


    So how is the butter?

    I just mde my first butter last night and it's barely discolored at all, but you sure can taste it. I have brownies cooking right now and the smell is unbelievable.

    I think the dark layer is plant matter that is supposed to be cut off and thrown away, at least that's what I am getting from this in the FAQ...

    "Cover the tall plastic container and place in the freezer.


    When frozen, remove the contents.



    You will see the butter and the frozen sludge water have seperated.



    Cut the frozen sludge away from the butter and throw it away. This contains lots of plant material and grit which many find offensive to taste and digestion."

    I was baked on brownies all day yesterday. They were potent and longlasting. The great thing is I still have enough for another batch.. mmmmmm. We're thinking abouth rice crispie treats next time.

    All this cooking is making me want to squeeze in a couple bad girls( a strain I have that makes great butter ) this season for butter.


    BTW why do we freeze the butter and water?


    I just chill and pick out the butter bits off the top.

    The freezer will solidify the butter quicker than the fridge. I fucked up and let the water freeze also. It was a pain to separate. Next time I'll pull it after the butter hardens and before the water freezes.
