im getting ready to finish up my flower room and trying decide which reflective film is best... i know theres mylar, easygrow, and orca, and not sure which is best... i know many use mylar and its the cheapest, but have heard that it can create hot spots... easy grown has a diamond pattern in it and supposedly diffuses the light better... and orca is super thick, white but loaded with some kind of crystal... any suggestions are greatly appreciated... i have no experience with any of these
I'm looking at something like this for my new room. http://www.discount-hydro.com/productdisp.php?pid=902&navid=33 Or this maybe. http://www.discount-hydro.com/productdisp.php?pid=904&navid=33 I have used Panda Film in the past for my current growrooms and I like it. It's 96% reflective white plastic on one side and black plastic on the other. I used it because I was sectioning off a portion of a room and just made walls out of it by stapling it up to simple wood frame. It's thick and durable which is nice. I always stayed away from mylar becuz it's more fragile and can become scratched and dull after a few grows and wiping it clean periodically. It also is known for tearing and unless you get it perfectly flat it can cause hot spots.
Panda Film is not a waste if you need to create a partition in a room. For instance, my 1K watt room is inside of an 8 x 12 room and I needed to contain the light and create a smaller space inside of my room for flowering. I used cheap furring strips (.95 cents each at home depot) to make a simple stick frame that sectioned of a 4 x 5 area inside the room. Rather than spend a bunch on 2 x 4 and plywood and such I just stapled up the Panda Film and Viola instant grow room.
Why must everything be an argument? Alot of ppl here don't have deep pockets. If this dude's resources are limited, panda vs. paint is a waste. I'd much rather a newbie 'waste' their cash on more important issues (light, seeds, nutes,...). And Res: If you get on/in MY wagon, you'd better hold on. I have a 5.7 (LT1) Past Present
thanks you very much everyone... i was figuring repaintinf the room in a bright white will run me $20 - 30... panda at my hydro shop is $1/ft, i need 12 ft... the reason i was asking about the different films is the issue of diffusion of the light... i was interested in easygrow diamond diffusion film see below... http://http://easy-grow.co.uk/products.html or the Orca brand film... http://http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=HLMYORGF54025 Again thank you everyone for the guidance BB214
I have always used white paint. Cheap and easy to clean should you get anything on the walls. No stapling to walls. A gallon goes along way. Peace.....
Is there room for one more on the wagon? Plain ol' white paint has always done me good. Use a decent latex and it cleans up just as good as panda. -tC
i know paint is cheap and practical except for one thing... I HATE PAINTING.... did i mention I HATE PAINTING...lol thanks everyone
sun film ultra Sunfilm ultra #1 Panda film #2 Mylar #3.EVEN THOUGH ITS FLAMMABLE Eggshell white #4 =cheap easily cleaned permanent That's my preference which might change with application
Panda Film is cheap and effective. There is nothing wrong with white paint either, but IMO, Panda Film is a good product and not a waste of money, and I'm not knocking the plain white paint. Not everything has to be an argument, but I do believe that the purpose of these forums is for open discussion and to get varying points of view, not for 1 person to post their opinion as fact and disregard what another has to say. Plus what I have said I explained with a real life situation in which the product was a more economic option over your preferred and in your opinion better solution.
