That's definitely :bs: A police officer or fire fighter takes an oath to serve and protect the citizens. He should still face some sort of legal action. He should also not be allowed to just retire without any disciplinary action by the FD. He should lose all retirement pension and medical benefits IMO. What he did is as bad as saying he thought that those people deserved to be shot for holding different political views than himself. Not cool for sure and he'll pay the price in karma, but he should suffer some more immediate consequences as well.

I just read that... he made a brief statement later that he had nothing against her, in fact he voted for her... so he says now. Regardless his position, he refused to assist others in need, which he is sworn to do. Period. She wasn't the only one shot, there were others who were injured worse than her and even killed inluding a 9 YEAR OLD KID!!! This woman will eventually make a full recovery, but others, including a young child are fucking dead. I'm sick of hearing about only the goddamn politician. And that fireman ought to be publicly hanged by his heels.
i blame the tea party for this sea change among certain americans. i call it a "sense of entitlement" to decide to do or not do anything depending on your personal beliefs. if one swears to or signs an oath, their word is their bond. this should not be miscontrued by anyone. im from tucson, and am saddened by the unprofessional conduct of this fireman.

WHAT? He took what? Retirement afterwards? Why was that even an option after he broke his oath the protect and serve? I know people that failed drug tests in the military and were chaptered on that alone because of a bullshit line of reasoning being drawn somehow connecting their use of marijuana in private off-base settings and their on-duty responsibility to be combat ready and we weren't at war or even in a combat setting. None of those people got to retire early and escape punishment and in my opinion they should have. Now if THEY didn't get to retire early because lives would have (supposedly) been at risk because of their behavior and there was a need to punish them on that principal, why does this firefighter get to skate-by and get taxpayers to subsidize his retirement benifits from his pubilcally funded Fire Department?
