I started flowering 8-17-07 ,and everything was/is going fine but my plant is starting to yellow and eat leafs over night. The smaller leaves will turn gray is this normal for this late of flowering? I also took a pic of the roots, I know they should be whiter, but I'm using fox farms products so do they look right considering?

Yellowing is very normal late in flower. Means the MJ plant is ending its cycle. I would be watching the trichomes very close now. You should be getting close to harvest.

As far as the hydro...I'm a lowly dirt farmer. :p

Edit: looks like you have some nutrient problems. Mg.

Mutt's right, you are getting towards the end, but you shouldn't have those "rust" spots on the leaves.

Looks like Calcium Def. or it could be Magnesium (since they depend on each other).

Then again, it could be Manganese, but you shouldn't have Mn def if you are using the Foxfarms products.

    Is your PH right (5.5-5.8)?

If so, get some Cal-Mag Plus and mix in 1 tsp per gallon.

    Edit: Post # 1,420. :)

your right its ok to be yellow..but i can see problems in the picks...rust spots an burnt leaf tips...use this as refrence..

    NITROGEN (N)

Pale plants, red stems, smaller growth. Rapid yellowing of lower leaves progressing up the plant. Add any chemical fertilizer containing N. Treated plants recover in about a week.

    PHOSPHORUS (P)

Slow or stunted growth, red stems. Smaller leaves that are dark green. Lower leaves yellow and die. Add chemical fertilizer containing P. Affected leaves will not show recovery but new growth will apear normal.

    POTASSIUM (K)

Affected plants are usually tallest and appear to be most vigorous. Necrotic spots form on lower leaves. Red stems. Leaves appear pale or yellow. Add chemical fertilizer containing K.

    CALCIUM (Ca)

Lack of calcium in the soil results in the soil becoming too acid. This leads to Mg or Fe deficiency or very slow stunted growth. Treat by foliar feeding with one teaspoon of dolomatic lime per quart of water until condition improves.

    SULFER (S)

Plants suffering from S definciencies exhibit yellowing of new growth. Mix one tablespoon of Epsom salts per gallon of water until condition improves.

    MAGNESIUM (Mg)

Lower leaves yellow and may even turn white while veins remain dark green. Blades die and curl upward.

    IRON (Fe)

Leaves on growing shoots turn pale and veins remain dark green. pH imbalances make iron insoluble. Foliar feed with chemical fertilizer containing Fe or rusty water.

    MANGANESE (Mn)

Necrotic and yellow spots form on top leaves. Mn deficiency occurs when large amounts of Mg are present in the soil. Foliar feed with any chemical fertilizer containing Mn.

    BORON (B)

Growing shoots turn grey or die. Growing shoots appear burnt. Treat with one teaspoon of Boric acid (sold as eyewash) per gallon of water.

    MOLYBDENUM (Mb)

Yellowing of middle leaves. Foliar feed with chemical fertilizer containing Mb.

    ZINC (Zn)

White areas form at leaf tips and between veins. Occurs in alkaline soils. Zn deficiency can be treated by burying galvanized nails in the soil. Chemical fertilizer containing Zn can also be used.

    OVER FERTILIZATION

Causes leaf tips to appear yellow or burnt. To correct soil should be flushed with three gallons of water per one gallon of soil.

This plant developed yellowing and those spots during the veg stage and they just never when away. I've always used fox fox and I to thought cal or mag, but fox farms should have all that. I change my water at least every 2 weeks. My cheap PH meter broke so I've been guessing for a month now but it's always below 7. FF products move you ph to about 5.2 all by it's self.

I've read that before and it say that the the decencies or brown spots won't go away. Once the damage is done it done I think / I hope.

Mutt nailed it. That is an MG deficiency.

Too much Calcium will lock out MG. Ca. to Mg ratio is ideal at 3:1.

If you're using tap water, you have too much Ca. and therefore the Mg is locked out, creating your deficiency. Or, if you're using R.O. water, you don't have enough Ca. and Mg. and therefore you see the deficiency.

You are correct, the rust spots will not go away.
