So when I go to the store to buy these, what exactly do I ask for? Mist nozzles? 360 degree sprayers? When you say "360 degree misters", does that mean they spin around in the pipe? Also, what does this part mean: "i drilled an 11/64's hole in the PVC where i wanted the misters then tapped the whole with a course thread wood screw... just screwed the screw into the hole and backed it out"? Do they make an 11/64 drill bit? What does "tapping a whole" mean? What is course thread? I still don't see how the pump gets attached to the pipes. I don't understand how do you attach the nozzles to those pipes. This is getting REALLY frustrating.
Scotty......grab my hand....lets take a walk :rofl6: Ask for the misters that go into the EZ CLONER, they're RED, they spray 360 NO, they DO NOT spin around (those suck), they are stationary What he means by "drill a hole 11/32" is, take a drill, a drill bit of 11/32 diameter, insert the drill bit into the drill and on the TOP of your pipe configuration, DRILL about 8-12 holes at equal spacing (like 2-3 inches apart from each other) Then take a screw of some sort (coarse&fine thread are how screws are explained, coarse has a rougher thread pattern and fine has a smoother thread pattern) and run it down into the pipe, just like your putting a screw into the wall or wood, then reverse it and take it back out..........that will create a "threaded" hole now, instead of a smooth hole from the drill bit.......now the "threaded" hole will HOLD your sprayers correctly Yes, they make extremely small drill bits, how else do small holes get created? ..............Get 2-3, they break easily The pump, on the top...has the opening which the water is pumped OUT of.....this is where the connection is made COOL? Scotty, dude, you have NO imagination :alienwink:
As for the BLEACH vs. PEROXIDE issue I look at it like this.....I want to completely kill anything possible in the cloner I can put peroxide on my arm, in a cut......OK ouch but its safe for humans Go ahead and put some bleach on your cut, see how ya feel then! Im sure they both work, I just like the guaruntee
You want us to put together a GK DIY AERO CLONER Shop Traveller? :roffl::roffl: If you can change the light bulb in you HID kit, you should be able to grasp screwing in a mister nozzle...in theory. Let the ball busting begin...:dog-nana::dog-nana::dog-nana: HA! Peace, JJb asssit:
THANK YOU Chris. Seriously..THANK YOU bro for taking the time. Sometimes this shit seems so intimidating. I see people build something like this and I think "Damn. There's no way I could ever do that.". I think it was T6 I was explaining to him that some people have some tools and some lumber and they see lots of different possibilities. I have lumber and tools, and all I see are lumber and tools. Yeah dude I didn't know about fine or course screw threads. I thought he meant actual thread, like nylon thread or string. Also I've never heard the term "tapping a hole". I wasn't sure what that was. I didn't know that the average dude could just walk into a hardware store and pick out certain drill bits. I thought stuff like that had to be ordered from like a professional industrial supply store. So these pumps have a hole on the top of them? OK, now I understand how you can hook the pump to the pipes. I just wanna make sure that I buy the proper sized pump to fit the pipe...or vice-versa. A lot of this is vocabulary that I've never heard before, so I think that contributes to the intimidation factor. Now that I know what these terms mean, things come clear to me. Here's a related story...kinda funny: Back in like 1991-1993 I got really into car audio systems. A friend of mine used to help me all the time and we'd get together and build speaker boxes for our friends. He'd give me measurements to cut, and I'd grab a manual saw. He's like dude, use the circular saw. I'm like "huh"? He says "Dude, it's the one with the round blade that you plug in." So I plug it in and I start attempting to saw pieces of wood. He's like "Dude...STOP! You're using it wrong. Use the numbers I gave you. It's the measurements." I said "Yeah but the saw just sits there. You said it's a power saw but it doesn't move at all." That's when he says "You have to actually push the saw along the wood. Just because it's a power saw does not mean that it moves itself. You have to guide it.". So then I go to town, except I was trying to move the saw too fast and I kept cutting it an inch too short or too much. Also the blade kept getting really hot and the saw would get stuck. He finally says "Dude, just get outta here. Get out of the garage! Go in the house! I'll come in and get you if I need somebody to fuck this up!". I wish he was still alive so we could look back and laugh about this shit. I know he was frustrated with me, but he also thought my ineptitude was funny. After high school, I went to college and he became a cop. A couple years ago he was killed in the line of duty. Rest In Peace Officer Gary Daniel MacCormack. Thanks Chris. I hope you know how much you just helped me to even attempt building something like this. You also triggered some pretty fond memories that I have. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to chriscrete again.
Good deal man, I know its hard to imagine certain shit for people...to me I see poop and can turn it into pretty poop Your story is soo true man, I got lots of buds like that, lol Good memory too RIP your bro...Scottyasssit:
Oh hey there dudes. How can I make sure the hole in the top of the pump is of a size that PVC pipe comes in?
So far after using an EZ cloner for the better part of year here is what I've come up with.... 1. Temps are HUGE. Low 70's will get you roots and help prevent rot or nasty shit growing in there, but upper 70's will get you roots quicker. You are more prone to the mushy brown stem with higher temps but I can get roots (actual roots not bumps) in 5 days with temps a little higher. 2. A timer that runs like 1 min off 4 mins off works better. Especially once you have established roots, they will TAKE OFF in that thing if you run it on a timer. This also aids in keep temps in the ideal range since the pump warms the shit out of the water. If you do run it 24 keep a few bottles of water frozen to toss in there. 3. Cloning gels aren't neccesary, although I usually get roots a day earlier. When you dip it in the hormone, let the cut sit out for a while before putting it in your cloner or you will just wash the gel right off. This in turn makes your water kinda slimy at the bottom, so I've just stopped using it. 4. pH isn't all that important unless your tap is crazy high. I just drop mine anywhere between 6-6.5. Once I have some roots established I will drop a gallon of week one veg formula in there (only if you have hydro nutes organic shit make your water nasty quick). Then I try to keep my pH at like 5.9-6 just be careful cause its alot trickier and fluctuates alot in these things. 5. I tend to leave mine an extra week and get em going since I get more growth in there than in my hempy buckets. So basically a week veg in the cloner will give you a much larger root mass than a week in soil or hempy. Allowed me to skip my smallest containers. 6. Another member on here turned me on to putting a pantyhose around the pump to keep roots and leaves and shit out of there. Best tip ever (you know who you are). You will get shit inside there and then the sprayers will get clogged. In between every run of clones I put plastic wrap over the unit and turn it on to check and make sure every sprayer is working. One clogged sprayer can mean a couple clones that don't take quickly or at all. I'm sure there is more, there always is LOL. But this should give your roots 100% of the time. These things work great.
rking, chris rking, you have jsut built one of the best tools you will have to m ake a grow GROW.... i built one like this ..a little different but almost the same and have 4 100cfl's over it and in mine there are 36 2" holes (that i drilled with a 2" hole saw drill bit, new term for you i am sure) and it works great... carp is certainly a master builder. and chris is a master explainer and between both of them you look like you built a masterpiece...good job.... ncmaineac
The white plug on the side of the bucket. That's the silicone plug I was asking about. I do know what the neoprene plugs are, but thanks.
Oops. I don't know where to get those either. Never seen one like that before. I'd use something else though. There's many things at Lowes or HD that could fit the bill. Look into the Liquid tight romex style connectors used for outdoor electrical enclosures maybe. Retiree
I found the silicone plug at the hydro store for pretty cheap, and I love it. It's really nice to have the cord going through the bucket instead of the lid, and the plug makes it really easy to take out and clean, and is water tight. I'll ask my hydro guy who he sources them from next time I'm up there. I can't find them online anywhere. -tC
Yeah, that's what I liked about it. I'd rather have it through the side. I couldn't find anything like it at Lowes. Didn't check Home Depot. I'll ask the hydro guy next visit. Thanks.
Where did you find a 5 min timer that cycles? I just started building the cloner and for the life of me I can not find a timer that will work.
