    Final notes

    Overall this space was planned out pretty well. I now have 2400 watts of HPS in 4 cool tubes, plus a vertical 400 in the bloom room, which is never big enough, BUT I'm coming out of a closet grow so 6 'X 5' of growable flower space is big to me. I can easily fit the two 2X4 tables and reservoirs I have planned but the big question is still gonna be height, since I have just under 6' of height floor to ceiling. I'll just have to get good at TROG (Trellis Of Green).

    Some notes: most timers are rated for 15 amps. Most power strips too. And my 600 watt ballasts draw 5.4 amps each. Point is be careful of overloading circuits and equipment when stacking up the watts. As I brought my lights online I burned through a power strip and a timer learning this, and had to run a third independent circuit from my breaker box to power up the bloom lights.

    I went with the overlapping 600's ala Nippie over the 1000 watters. Why? Because with four 600's vs. four 1000's I will use a lot less electricity (and create less heat) to harvest only SLIGHTLY less weight, all else being equal. If you use 1000 watt ballasts that draw 9 amps each, you need a separate timer for each light or an expensive intermatic. And bloom lights alone easily max out a single 30 amp circuit.

    Now if I find I can't live with the lower harvest weights I'll switch up to 1000 watters. But I wanna try to pull a pound per 600 watt bulb.

    The only true 8 week strain I have is Jackberry X KO Kush, which I think I will have a hard time getting a pound per 600watt bulb with. But if I run it on tables and have overlapping 600's plus the 400 I might get there. I'm gonna try.

    that might be why your blowing timers, I cant remember the model # but a few few HYDROFARM timers blow when connected to DIGI ballasts, they sent out letters to growshops about them...I personally have had a ton of issues with those digital timers in the past, I went to all manual type times that have been cranking for over 3 years each. I know it seems like you SHOULD use what you got but, id swap out that 400 for another 600, 400s do jack squat in a bigger space, your almost wasting your money

    If you run tables in there, just VEG till about 8inch tall and your heighths should be perfect, top them once if you want to get that TROG you want but still keep them at 8inch tall

    and if you ran 1ks over a 600, the difference isn't exactly minimal, the heat goes up yes but so does the yields, more like 600 to 12-14oz to 1k to 16-20oz.....if your hustling then that's a $1,000 to 1400 difference

    The space is sick tho FF...youll be twice that by the end of the year,:roffl::roffl:

    growing infects you :coolbounce::coolbounce::thumbs-up::popcorn-2:

    Thanks CC! Dude what I did was plug all 4 ballasts :LOL: into a power strip, and ran that strip through a single timer, not even a hydrofarm timer but like a stanley Home dePot special. The strip went first, but I still didn't get it, so I just replaced the strip, then the timer burned up LOL then I was like "oh shit AMPS!" :roffl: I'm skeptical of those digital timers too, partly because it took me a whole day and Amazon reviews to figure out how to set the fuckin things, and that was yesterday. I'll be watching when they are supposed to kick on today. So I don't even know if they work yet?

    As for the 400, I know I'll have to ditch it in the summer because of heat. And if I have a full room like I should there won't be space to hang it low enough to do any good. Right now I only have 6 plants in there (plus 3 low KQ but they're small) so I have them spaced out to get big and there's a giant hole in the middle of the room. I just dropped that 400 in there low low low and it lights up the underside of the plants, which are all around it bout 12-15" away.

    Beautiful setup, man! You should get some weight from that. I've got 1800w (Three 600s hung vertically) in an 8x5 and can't go anymore than that because of my wiring here.

    A solid alternative to those digi's and a strip are the heavy duty 20amp outdoor timers. A little searching can find one with multiple outlets and do away with a ton of clutter.

    GREAT IDEA!!! I hate digi's and would rather just use the regular style. I actually have a couple of the outdoor timers. DUH!
