so correct me if im wrong, but from reading this thread i understand... if i moved to cali and became a resident, started growing pot, got a docs rec. soon after seeds pop:dink: then as long as i stay within the legal limits of cultivation in that area....the cops cant touch me if they came a knocking?

Pretty much, as long as you are not dealing you should be good to go.

Be careful. MOST cops won't do anything if you're within the guidelines. Federal cops and any other cop following orders can and will take you in. Read the quote from an article I posted in the politics forum. Local police joined the feds in raiding a dispensary here in so cal. If you grow for yourself and you take the right steps not to let the smell get out you SHOULD be safe as long as you have your rec and you're not dealing.

This is an open discussion that does indeed relate in part to the OP's question. :passsit:

MG- You must have a Dr's Rec in order to even get the state card. :passsit:

Im in california now. San diego to be exact. I seen on line offering a doctors recom for $35.00. Is that easy to get one? Is there anything i should know before going to one of these doctors?

So.......what part of this is not understandable?

    Question asked.

    Question answered.

Feel free to shoot the breeze and shit but I felt the guy (OP) deserved an answer to his question....

    @Choker

It's that easy. Cards in the IE are twice that price. My Dr did demand at least one solid medical reason but I'm sure others just want your money and will give it to you for anything. I miss San Diego. Lived in La Mesa for a long time.

I know, what's your point? My point is, why the heck would anyone want to get a card that gets them on a state list? I know someone that has one of these cards, he thinks that the card allows him to grow up to 99 plants and says that without it he has to stay within the state mandated guidelines. I have given up trying to convince him otherwise. The best part is he is one of the most careful and paranoid growers I know but the fact that he is on a state list escapes him. Doh!

Sorry Ras, my last reply came off as rude. I'll apologize in advance.

    I misunderstood the question.

But yeah, you cannot pee dirty and keep a CDL. Whatever state. That would up to the employer to drug test or not.

After having read through this, it looks like I'm the one that was confused. When I started this thread, I said that I had a "card". I guess that I've been referring to my doctor's rec as a "card" for a long time, not realizing that other people don't call it that. I knew about the state-issued card, but like most others here, I'd prefer not to be on another list, especially if it's a voluntary thing.

I guess I need to talk to my buddy again, now that I understand his reasons for concern.

Thank you all for your comments and for setting me straight.

I was saying that in reference to this comment.

This statement is false. There is only one way to get MMJ in ca legally. With a Dr's Rec. That was my point sir.:passsit:

    PsychoD- No worries. :passsit:

Ok I understand. I did not know you had to have one to get the other. That still makes it two ways to get er done legally though.

No it doesn't. You sound like the chick in the 80 mph video... :roffl::kidding: There is only one way to make yourself a legal MMJ patient. With a Dr's Rec, that's it. The card is a moot point. The card can't be acquired unless you are already a legal MMJ patient, so it has nothing to do with affording you any additional rights. It's simply a form of Identification that labels you a MMJ user that has their Dr's Rec.

    Understand? :passsit:

One needs a card to go in and purchase weed correct? If your just going to grow your own then one just needs a doctors slip correct?

  18. rasganjah

    rasganjah True Ganjaman

    Incorrect.

You need a Dr's Rec and that's it. With your rec from your Dr, you can grow your own, or you can go to any dispensary you want to. You bring your Dr's Rec with you to the dispensary and join the collective. They take copies of you info and you sign a member agreement, and viola, you can legally purchase all (up to 8 ounces at a time) the weed, hash, edibles, etc., you want..... If you have the $$ to spend at the dispensary that is.

I don't see what's so hard to understand about this.

To become a legal MMJ patient in CA; You must be a resident. You must have a recommendation to use MMJ from a licensed physician practicing medicine in the state of CA, and that is it.
