When your bending & cracking branches you HAVE TO TIE THAT SHIT DOWN or it won't stay down. The point is to make the plant grow horizontally & then vertically. Re-read the FAQ about super cropping.
Look man, theres the "real" world, then theres the world that "specs" are made for.....and growing a natural plant is never guna have a "spec" associated with it, plants are common sense first Those specs are derived from a test lab and not Chaz's house and in Chaz's tent in the UPSTAIRS of a suburb of Pittsburgh,PA..........know what im gettin at here dude????? As for the outside thing....c'mon, think about it........the plants are living in the enviorment of around oh say A TRILLION ACRES!!!! While the same plant thats inside is in a 4x4 space...........ones manmade and ones REAL Aint you a self-proclaimed nerd??? Dammit GUS! When it comes to fans, buy BIG and get a speed controller, then u can adjust the flow yo!
All gardens are different YMMV. Remember that when reviewing calculator or equipment specs. asssit: In nature the plants roots are buried in a heat sink millions of times larger than the mere pots we use. So outdoor plant root systems are always enormously cooler than ambient air temperature. In a tiny 1-2 c/ft pot in an enclosed space with an immediate radiant heat source? Eh:eusa_eh:...not so much. Foxtailing on overheated plants reduces yield. Period. Occasional foxtailing on late running sativas or silly fat indicas that have been well tended can be a fun part of the show. What you have is the former. Rule of thumb: Lower temps produce tighter nuggs. Always. The balance between firepower and temps is individual to EVERY garden and EVERY strain. Balance for a medium range of temps and adjust from there. The younguns look good. Gonna be fat mommas one day. You'll still pull a decent yield on the flower garden. Just not the picture perfect big bag appeal chunks. In time....:redbong:
If you live in PA-it's cold there now-use a fresh air intake to cool your lights-I cool 2 1000w hps with a fresh air intake and a booster fan, and you can lay your hand on the fixture. /monthly_2012_12/57a6ca7b638ec_MySpace.jpg.61fd07836c1f7bf93aa7d8f31368d65d.jpg
Cool guys. Thanks for the info. Old Res, damn, you sure know your shit! I'm gonna try something like that today, and see how it goes. At this point does it matter though? If I get those temps down will that Blue Dream fill out? And BTW, all the buds are rock hard already, no fluff what so ever. + Rep for RR and I tried for Old Res, already repped him to much! xD :not-worthy:
Okay, after doing a bit of research on fox tailing, it's leading me to believe that it is just that strain has the tendency to fox tail then. I look at the rest of my plants and none of them are like that, so to me that would kill the heat explanation, I'm thinking it's just the genetics of the plant that are making it foxtail. I am still gonna get that tent down to the proper temps, I thought I would just share this and get some feedback. 1. Is it just the strain genetics? 2. Or is the heat and other factors playing a role in the foxtailing of 1 plant out of 4?
Chaz, everyone is correct about the heat!!!! Genes can do this, but doubt it's your case, mostly satty's from my experience And you need to listen to everyone, even those you think are being dicks, THEY ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU!!! Don't argue with them, don't think they don't know what they are talking about....like a said a few times before, most everyone here speaks from experience, not what they read on the internet.....HUGE difference
People act like I'm just making my mind up and ignoring advice but I was just asking a question, not ignoring advice. 1 out of 4 are fox tailing. If it was heat causing it then why aren't the others like that.
It means one out of four is extremely stressed right now!! It's a warning sign!!! If you have chest pains and can't breath, would you sit at home until your arm tingled before you called the doctor for a heart attack?
if you gonna read the net read this https://www.opengrow.com/topic/46471-foxtailing-good-bad-or/page__st__20 sorry mods and MrG for another site link, you can edit it out if you would like, just trying to explain the difference
Last summer indoor grow my temps in the flower tent were 85-87 everyday. No foxtailing, but the buds were light, potency was shit, etc... A few people were telling me that the temps were too high and I was like "Nah, they're not all that high." But, I was so wrong. It was a crap grow. Live and learn, and listen. asssit:
Dont worry the others are probably growing mold Is it possible to set "what you think you know" to the side, fuck what your reading elsewhere......fuck whereever your reading it and hear me loud and clear........experience lessons is what your being taught here.......you CANNOT figure it out till you either do it yourself or get taught how to and what to do. What your reading could be from anyone, more than likly a major newbie grower, how the hell would he know..... You can do or think whatever you want, you always will...........I know YOU wanna know, but just listen sometimes and stop trying to prove someone wrong or find a kink in their explanantion, its rubbing EVERYONE the wrong way and eventually patience wears out. I promise you, you have heat issues, no matter what YOU think or READ......you have heat issues, say it with me.......I HAVE FUCKING HEAT ISSUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know for sure heat is a issue, but I guess I'm just not understanding how 1 plant can be so stressed and the others are fine. Every time I post its a fucking debate, sorry for wanting to fully understand something. Either way, just put my self in a little more debt and got a 720 CFM fan. The 440 one I got will go in the veg tent and the one in there now is a 200cfm fan. I'll use it to bring cold air into the tents. Then I'll have the heat under control.
OK, line up 4 differant ethnicities you got a lil stout mexican dude, a giant ass russian hulk-man, an eskimo and a newage skinny jeans wearing 20yr old Amaerican male.........K? Now they're all human, besides needing food/water to live ........thats about where there the comparasin stops. Same with the plants..........just cuz theyre all pot plants and are green doesnt make them all the same Theres a reason why its called "strainS" and not just weed..........every single plant wants and needs differant stuff..........thats where the EXPERIENCE comes into play.........if you think for 1 seond that cuz u ran the same plant 2-3times you "know" its tendencies.........your outa your mind crazy, its taken me 3 years to dial in a plant, 1 single plant......now its on cruise control but it took the time for my lady to be pregnant and to see 2 of my kids birthdays to figure it out. Every plant eats, lives and yields DIFFERANTLY
