:roffl::roffl::roffl::roffl::roffl::redbong: Lion is NOT an instigator. One of the most level headed cats on the board. On the other hand...............I'm a dick....really CC's interesting visual isn't far off the mark tho man. See here's the deal, you into rods or cars? Imagine you're looking at the makings of a very nice ride but everywhere you look the components are either mismatched or misused. Like using an old oil coil and stock distributor to keep up with sparking a built small block stroker. Then hearing the cat say he's looking to put a blower on top of it all without figuring out why his ignition fucks up under load. :icon_confused: You kindly mention..."dude, might want to get rid of that Delco ignition first" And he replies..."Nah, starts fine, just don't have any top end. Blower will fix that.":BangHead: Just sayin'...
Little Picture Update Group Shot: Pineapple Express: (Day 22) Purple Wreck: (Day 22) Blue Dream Haze: (Day 52) Critical Jack Herer: (Day 52) Auto Cheese: (Day 50) - Had a root rot problem, now is almost 85%-95% resolved with good old H202. This is getting removed from my main tent next week when I throw the photosensitive plants into flower. Ordered a 3x3x6 tent off of Amazon for 99$, $3 extra bucks for next day shipping (Amazon Prime Member :jj: ) - I'm hooking both the P.E. and Purple wreck up with their own 3 gallon control buckets, since their flowering times are soooo far apart. The Critical Jack and Blue dreams flowering times are similar and they like the same amount of nutes now I toned it a bit down.
Just read last 6 pages of this thread.......:bduh: Current pics look pretty good man. Seems like you are investing alot of time and money which is why people are trying to point you in the right direction. My take on things. 1. Make up your mind on a system and stick to it. If you keep going back and forth and switching methods you will do yourself no good. Pick a way, go with it, and get it down good. You will save alot of money this way as equipment costs cut into profit and make it less worth it in the end. We all have done this and have alot of extra equipment laying around. And let's face it....can't exactly sell it on craigslist. 2. Ditch all the fad type lights. Bottom line is (no matter what others have told you) those LED's suck compared to HID. A 1000w in a 4x4 tent is great if you can control heat. But the heat will REALLY be an issue if you don't have excellent air flow and a constant way to cool (AC unit). You will definitely need the larger fan. If it were me, I would purchase a large fan to use specifically for the light with an air cooled hood. Then I would use the smaller fan/filter combo just for scrubbing. Most tents have multiple in/out vents and cooling the light separately will lower your temps significantly. 3. Don't bother with Auto's. If non standard seeds get fem...You will be happy you did in the long run. 4. If you plan on running 2 tents consider just using one to flower. It's easy to be tempted to want to maximize yields but running a veg tent allows for alot of flexibility. You will have large plants ready to flower when the other ones finish, and you will also be able to maintain moms and run a cloner anytime. If you are dead set on using those LED's.....this would be a good place to use them. You really gotta take peoples suggestions here. Alot of really experienced growers on here who have numerous years of experience. Alot of us have made similar mistakes and had similar issues you have until we took the advice and fixed them. I've pulled a pound out of a tent thats same size as yours using a 600 watt light. I've also pulled 12 zips from a cab that is nearly 1/3 the size of that tent using a 400. You just have to have proper ventilation and feed them right and they will do the rest.
Thank you buddy! Thanks! - Thanks for the feedback on the plants. - Your absolutly correct about sticking with one system, I bit to much off trying RDWC as my second grow. I've decided to leave the two plants in the back still running in the RDWC (since I already have it hooked up, and it's working well. The two plants in the front will just run a standard DWC with a bubblier. - I made my mind up on the lights and have already purchased what I needed. I bought 1 x 1000W HPS Kit w/ and air cooled tube, I bought a 400W HPS kit also with an air cool tube. So the main 4x4 tent will just have a 1K Watt and nothing else. The second tent (3x3), I will be using two 400 Watt kits with air-cooled tubes. Will my 440CFM Fan with a new Phresh 550 CFM filter properly keep the 1K Watt cool? I also run a direct line into the tent from the AC vent. Now onto the 3x3 tent, I have a 200 CFM inline fan with a 4" Carbon filter. Will that fan/filter combo be able to keep 2 x 400 Watts cool, or do I need an upgrade on that one (Both 400 Watt have air cooled tubes and will be directly connected in a line)? - About the auto's. My last grow was 5 White Rhino Auto's and I pulled 1 1/4 pound off of them. So I've had good experience with them and want my 3x3 tent to finish around the same time as my 4x4 tent, and auto's is the only way to do that. - My one Auto Cheese I built it's own box for. I want to test the 240 Watt Blackstar in a 2x2x4 environment and see the actual results, so I can decide for myself if they are worth the money. I think of it like this, I already bought it ($300+) and have never used it by itself. So this will just be an experiment with the LED. My main tents will be running HID HPS. - I still plan on running auto's in the 3x3 tent, sorry. I just got my mind made up on it. I was thinking of just using 2-3 gallon buckets and keep it simple and make them all hempy buckets. Looking at flowering times for my strains, if I run all short lived auto's in the 3x3 they will finish right around the same time as the 4x4 tent. Then I will take your advice and just run one tent for veg and one for flower. I just need cash flow asap. Only got a QP left of my White Rhino. - I am doing my best on taking suggestions from you pro's and it has saved my ass quite a few times. So I appreciate all the advice that is given to me. I'm a stoner, so sometimes I forget I already posted the same question in another thread. From now on, I'm just updating/posting in my grow log to keep things simple/organized. - Should I start looking for a portable AC unit?
Running into a bit of a root rot problem with just my auto cheese. I've been giving it a cup of H202 @ 3% daily, and everyday when I check the bucket I can see all the roots that the H202 ate away. I stopped using the root zone along with the H202, since that's what yall suggested. Any other opinions or options would be great. Watch in 1080P, Full HD
You might wanna think about just buying one 8" fan and using it to cool both tents. If your going to run 2 400 you will need something bigger than a 4" If you get a 747 cfm fan it should be good for both. Even better i just picked up a Max Fan 8" HO. its a 8" fan that can flow 950 cfm's, basically a 10" fan necked down to 8" and that will 100% be good for 2 tents. problem is 369$ plus a 8x40 filter you will need (another 200-230$) its a big upgrade. You can get a 747 for 130-175$ which will do the job with your a/c unit . You have less than 200 cf. with a fan that can pull 750cfm = new air every 20 seconds...... This is all rounding lol but you get the drift i hope
SpEd- That requires building a plenum to correctly distribute the vacuum. If you just cobble together random lengths of duct with random splits and random restrictions you get random airflow patterns. For us hobbyists it's much simpler to dedicate cooling for specific gardens.
man Im not certain but I dont think 3% H2O2 is enough to be effective in hydro system. and while your current vegged plants look healthy Im surprised to see they are at 28 days? my current vegging crop is at a similar time and are almost twice the size of yours. Im growing from seed and in soil. Is your root issue affecting all of your plants? O
i gotta chime in at this point: You're running way too many watts in your spaces. In a 4X4 area, a 600w HPS is totally enough (with a decent reflector). And in a 3X3 one 400w is also enough. Basically you got twice as much light for the spaces, and naturally you're gonna run into cooling problems. I run a 600w with a 550cfm fan in a 4X4 area, considering you're gonna run 1000w with a smaller fan, you'll have heat problems
I run a 1k in my 4x4 with out a/c my temps are 75-77 right now all day long. Res i wasnt aware of needing to build a plenum please explain? I was thinking all you need are passive intakes on both tents. All 3 hoods connected in line and the 8" sucking it all?
Is this a legit link: http://www.4hydroponics.com/FAQrootRot.htm ? That's what I based my treatment on and so far it has worked, I use a bit more nutes, but I think I actually beat the rot. Got some metal tape, gonna wrap all the buckets, and place some black/white poly over the grow medium. Hopefully that will cool the plants water a bit. When my 3x3 tent arrives tomorrow I am taking my desk out of my office and putting up a little two tent setup, with prob a dedicated AC and nice ventilation. I don't know to much about poly, like why to pick white/white over white/black. I bought 20x20 white/black poly for like $19 (6mm thick, heavy duty). Root rot is not affecting the other plants but it's so hard to keep the temps down as of now. Running the non air cooled 250W CFL, 90W CFL (Blue, veg spectrum), 240W LED (Black Star), and being on the top floor of a town house. Next week I will flip to flower (I've been following the useless formula, saying dead on for PH and def in range for PPM. I will prob LST my Blue Dream, I can't have that thing being 6ft +. I think the high water temps overall are hurting the growth rate and no addition of C02. I about to make one of those home-made C02 makers out of gallon bottles! xD - I believe ones I move things around and setup the ventilation better my temps will be controllable. - Before my plants grew faster but I've been staying low on the PPM, I raised them up nicely today, we'll see how they take it. Ya I'm def gonna try to get the 35% grade. But would 1 cup of 3% H202 equal like 1 Tbls of 35% H202? I thought you would just have to add more H202 of a lesser strength. I'm only running a 250 Watt CFL, 90 Watt UFO LED (Blue Spectrum), and my 240W LED Black Star up way higher than the other 2 lights (produces more heat than the 250 Watt CFL). This weekend I will be running 1 Air-cooled 1K Watt HPS (Digital) in a 4x4 tent. I will also run my CFL to veg another batch of I'm not sure yet. Then I will switch to two air-cooled 400 Watt HPS's.
If you run in a single series it works fine. If you're splitting more than once you need a plenum. From the sound of the garden set-up I was assuming (doh!?) it wasn't possible to run in series.
Got my new tent and 400w hps. I have no idea how to fit two of those lights in there. I'll be moving the 4x4 tent next to the 3x3 and fix up the exhaust system.
So I just contacted Amazon, where I bought the 400 W HPS and tent, and told them that my reflector was all bent up from poor shipping methods (UPS), and they said keep what I have and they will send me another entire system free of charge and upgrade the shipping to next day shipping. I have never had customer service that great before! I can fix the bent reflector, and now I get another free 400 W air-cooled tube system with the ballast and extra bulbs and everything!!! YAY ME! :jj: - So now I have one 1000W Air-cooled system, two 400W air cooled systems, my normal 400W system with a normal hood reflector. That's a lot of watts! Now just how to hook them up and where to place them. 2,200 Watts! - And I still have my 90W UFO LED, 240W Black Star LED (7-band/flowering LED), and a 250W CFL (blue spectrum) - I measured my entire office and it is 10 x 8.5. I currently have two tents and two inline fans and filters. I'd like one straight exhaust system. I just need to figure out how to use two Inline-fans in one configuration. - I also plan on keeping the second tent super simple, maybe small (1 to 2 gallon buckets), making them hempy buckets. Can I SCROG with Hempy buckets? I've really been interested in trying that. I know for sure this time I will grow all the same strain in my 3x3 tent. Under 2 x 400 W HPS, in a 3x3 tent, how many plants should I put in there?
