Not a bad idea for a thread. Been approached by a couple members with similar concerns so maybe an open airing, while remaining respectful, is in order. Here's my take. Bannings, Admin or moderator actions and all the other crap that goes with the job require judgement calls on 99% of the issues we handle. Very little is cut and dried by the book stuff. With a new Admin and nearly complete turnover in mod crew over the past 18 months most of us are just now getting into the general swing of how we are going to function as a site and admin crew. Until recently we had Herb and Snick as time tested experienced leaders. Then it was kind of open season as different mods stepped up to keep things rolling and finally the structure of MrGj and a full operating staff emerged. MrGj has been stalwart in his calm guidance as the switch took place and the rest of us settle into our rolls. But, inexperience on our part does lead to mistakes. We're doing our best but for my actions (speaking only for myself) I know there are times I should have acted earlier and other times I've over reacted. Hopefully my radar gets more finely tuned the longer I do this. In some of the recent flare ups I've noticed that as mods we tend to pile into the action like a freight train. With myself and all the other mods getting our opinion in. Yup...I'm guilty guilty guilty. In my defense, in the short time I've been doing this more often than not when a thread goes down hill it goes fast and members often need more than one warning to settle it down. Perhaps as admin and members we could work together to lessen this. As mods we could wait to see the membership reaction before backing up a warning made by another mod. As members you could heed a warning sent in PM or posted in thread and appreciate that the intent is to maintain some semblance of order around here, not to pick a fight or harass a member. As for 420G and GK.......I wouldn't mind to one day have both memberships openly represented at the NAGC and Meet-n-Greet. Can you imagine the bragging rights?
