I love this thread. Nice choice on that ebb and grow system Chris. My local grow supply had a whole set out there as a floor display for a while. Man I was practically drooling over it! It's just the perfect setup.

T6, I'm anxious to see how you set up your new system. I still can't decide how I'm going to set up my system. I'll eventually be going full hydro but it'll take me a year. I'm going to have to do it piece by piece.

Ditto Chriscrete. Was thinking the same thing. But you know sometimes one thing leads to another.

Teamster, You may have misunderstood what I meant. I certainly do believe that the 6" pipe can handle the root system. That is one thing I really like about that type of system is how the roots can grow unencumbered. And if I had the dough to throw at it I'd get the same damn thing. That type of mister based hybrid aero/nft system is the shit! IMO. Just saying that you can do a very similar setup for far less cash. Research the hell outta that shit. Make a shopping list and go to the hardware store of choice just to get an idea of costs. Think of all sorts of variations of the same and you will come up with something that offers the performance you are looking for at a price you can swallow. But honestly Teamster.... You ARE going to be able to afford that same system in the very near future.

    :party5:

What you have to ask yourself is wether the extra money you pay for a "plug and play" system like that is worth the time and energy of researching and developing of one of your own. Even if it's nearly a carbon copy, It's still a hell of a lot of work to bring something like that together properly.

Good Luck Teamster and I'll quit stompin all over your thread Chriscrete.

Look for some more of this type of stuff soon in my gallery thread as I'll be firing my mister boxes up soon.

Fuck! I'm not sure how I missed this thread until now, but I really love the diy things.

I'm a plumber and would love to manufacture some sort of system that I can easily use and teach others to use also.

Thanks for all the super duper info everyone! :bigok:

Those NFT things are SUPER SUPER easy and cheap to build, the big bang is the $30-50 pump, other than that its pipe, glue, proper hydro fittings, pumps, a saw and drill with a holesaw............put them on a table on a slight lean, fill up the ressey, intro plants and rock out........check out youtube, theres a ton of DIY videos on them

you're also forgetting the hps/mh light or any other light source you would also need to purchase unless you did infact have this whole setup outside which in most places is not a great idea
