Tony Aroma Let's Go - Two Smokes!

    Update @ Day 37

Once again, a week has made a big difference. We're into the fifth week now and getting close to flipping time. I had planned on around 6 weeks of veg, but I might let them go longer so I don't waste too much space. We'll see as they're growing pretty fast now, and a week could make a big difference.

For those of you paying attention, I swapped the one C99 and Warlock's positions. Putting the shorter plants in the middle right under the lights and the taller plants on the outside prevents anybody from getting shaded.

Right after taking this picture, I tied down the top of the C99 in front, and I will probably do the same to the other C99 very soon. They are both growing above the height of the SCROG screen, and I need them all to be about the same height when I put the screen in.

You might also notice the runt PPP is still hanging in there. Still has the discoloration and twisted leaves, but still growing. I really hope it makes it up to the height of the screen, otherwise it's going to get shaded once the screen starts filling in.

Looking nice Tony. I was thinking, why not just block up the runt until all the tops are level with your SCROG screen?

    Update @ Day 47

It's been more than a week this time, and of course more than a week's worth of progress.

As of now, all but the runt PPP have been bent over and tied down. Don't worry, these girls love that sort of treatment. Even so, the C99 are still the tallest of the group and the only ones growing up above the height of the soon-to-be-installed SCROG screen. If they are two different phenos, I'd never know it as they are virtually identical so far.

Checking my calendar, I realized I need to think about harvest time. I'm going out of town for a few days in the second week of May, and I don't want to be gone right before or right after harvest. Which means sometime this week I need to flip to 12/12 to be able to finish up at least a week before my trip. I think the timing will be good, and the available space is going to fill up quite nicely once they start flowering.

We'll just start calling you Mr. Consistent. Always healthy, always a nice green, always well maintained, always beautiful buds.

Thanks. As I always say, I'm nothing if not consistent.

One other thing I forgot to mention, looking more closely at the runt PPP I noticed that some of the lower leaves on the side branches look pretty normal. It's kind of hard to see in the photo, but you can see a few of the smaller leaves look pretty green. No discoloration, no twisting. I don't think these normal-looking leaves started out that way. I'm pretty sure the leaves that start out funky are turning normal over time. Whatever that means. I don't think I've ever had a plant like this before.

    Update @ Day 2 of 12/12

After 49 days of veg, I flipped to 12/12 this week.

Not much different than the previous picture since it's only been 3 days. One difference, I boosted the height of the runt PPP to bring it up to the height of the others. Also, after taking this picture I installed the SCROG screen. I think it's going to fill in quite nicely.

Whatd you use for the screen ?

PVC pipe for a frame with jute twine stretched across through holes drilled in the pipe. You should be able to see it in the next pict I post. FWIW, I use string instead of wire in case I have trouble getting a plant out at harvest, it's easy to just cut the string.

    Update @ Day 9 of 12/12

Not much happening flower-wise. It seems they've all gone into slow motion mode. They're not really growing, no stretch to speak of, and there's very little flowering going on.

All are showing preflowers except the deformed PPP. But all but the other PPP were already showing preflowers before I flipped.

You can also see the SCROG screen that I added this week. Notice the Warlock is barely poking above the screen. I must've done a good job training it, as it won't stand up straight even after it's been untied. And the freak PPP is only above the screen because it's been boosted. I also changed the bulb out a couple of days ago, so let the flowering begin.

    Update @ Day 16 of 12/12

Here we are at day 16 already and things are moving pretty slowly. Especially for strains that are supposed to finish in 55-60 days.

All are just starting to get ever-so-slightly fuzzy tops, except for the deformed PPP that is. Not really even close to the Q-Tip stage yet. I guess I was expecting a little more from strains that are supposed to be fast finishers.

As you can see, the screen is starting to fill in now. I don't think it's going to be as solid a canopy as my last grow, but I think there should be a decent number of bud sites above the screen. I've been doing a lot of tucking and bending to try and give some of the shorter branches some light.

The C99 in particular are stretching the most. They were getting so tall on the right edge that I had to bend many of their branches 180 deg to point them back toward the center. Which is why it looks a little sparse on the far right end. I think that area will fill in a bit with the C99 lower branches that are now exposed.

Overall, everybody is very healthy, except of course for the freak PPP. You can see it's still pretty discolored, and it's easy to tell which branches belong to it. Still, it's better than it was. But I'm still afraid it's going to be behind all the way and not finish with the others. I gave them probably their last grow ferts this week and will start with the bloom ferts on the next watering. Please stay tuned, and hopefully by next week we'll see some significant flowering progress.

Tony, could there be any environmental issues at play here that could be slowing things up? I might be mistaken but haven't you grown the C99 before? Just wondering if something may have changed without you being aware.

Like you said though, they do look healthy & the overall growth between your two last pics look good.

pushing some happy grow fast and stong vibes your way:redbong:

    ???????

I just looked at picts from my last grow, and these aren't really that far behind. Actually, they're pretty much right on. I guess I'm just impatient and/or expecting fast finishers to also be fast starters.

And no, I've never grown any of these strains before.

They look like they're coming along ok. I hate the first 2 weeks. It seems to take forever to see nice things, then all of a sudden, BAM! I'm sure they'll look fat soon. I like the way you fill the screen.

    Update @ Day 23 of 12/12

Here we are at day 23, and the buds are a-poppin'. As you'll see, they look quite a bit different than they did just a week ago. We have definitely arrived at the Q-Tip stage. So rather than bore you with more pictures of leaves, I'll skip straight to the fuzzy buds. Which is, as we all know, why you're here.

    First, the Cheese.

Next, the C99. Probably a bit of both of them, as they are getting pretty intertwined.

And the Pure Power Plant, looking very sativa-ish. The healthy one, that is. The deformed, discolored runt is still way behind the rest.

I gave them their first low-dose shot of bloom ferts this week. And I continue to bend and tuck to try to give everybody some light. So FINALLY, things are starting to get moving.

    Update @ Day 30 of 12/12

We are right about at the halfway point, and the girls are hitting their stride. This is my favorite part of the whole grow, where I can see the buds growing and filling out day by day.

Here's the Warlock, one of the smaller plants. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it's the darkest green of the bunch and has the widest leaves.

It's getting pretty obvious now that I have two different phenos of the C99 Hybrid. This one is pretty dark green (two buds in the center), similar to the Warlock (left). It's also getting some pretty thin leaves. You can see the contrast with some of the other C99's lighter-green leaves in the upper-right corner.

And here you can see the other C99 is a much lighter green and still has relatively wide leaves. Both are really big, taking up about half the cabinet. And they also have the fuzziest tops of the group.

I've been feeding them bloom ferts every other watering, gradually increasing the strength. And every 3-4 waterings they get a dose of molasses. It looks like the stretch is pretty much over. Which means I'm not doing much bending and tucking to fill out the screen any more. All the colas are now pretty much where they'll stay for the rest of their lives. The other development over the past week is aroma. They're at the point now that my hands come away with a nice sweet smell.

Please stay tuned. It's all down hill from here.
