So were up and running, not pretty but it'll do.

PH is still a little high and I swear the roots look like they have a tinge of brown to them, checking temps ph is 6.1 right now but I had to add a bunch of water because my lines were so long, took a 25 gal system up 30+ gal. I gonna add a couple things to help with the root issue and havent checked temps yet but I'm sure I'll be running a ghetto cooler on their by tomorrow.

My lines are pretty long and it's slowing the pump some. I did this on purpose because I'll be moving them soon and wanted to make sure my lines were long enough in new location.

I will add, something basic and simple for those who are reading and going to throw a system together, drill always on low (ruined a bucket) and use a hair dryer on lines before you push them on to barb. This may sound like common sense, but it took me five minutes of fucking with them before my lazy ass would go get the wife's hair dryer, save yourself the trouble and have it handy before you start.

I'll throw up some pics when they get moved, right now it's to fucking embarrassing to show someone the mess of lines, but it was a nice day and had to take the kids to the park.

I just did the start to my new way of doing things......once a week for me, Thanks CC, Useless's, Steel and Nip.

Drained and filled all three control buckets with water that is 250 PPM's and 6.5PH. Added about 25ml's of Ph down to ea.

Waiting till tomorrow to throw the nutes in. Since I just did the week 6 of nutes on last Thursday should I do that week again or jump to week7??

Not sure, new with formula. I would honestly jump to week7 because its not that drastic imho.

Im glad this turned out to be an informative thread, I was lost 2 weeks ago with any hydro, now I got a RDWC running.

Thanks for the help guys, :not-worthy:

Blah, and everyone else, feel free to keep the thread going if you have questions or comments. that way I don't look like such a noon:roffl:

Ill have some pics up for you guys in a day or two

Ok. My head is swirling. On the DWC, the day after my flush with ph'd water, I don't have to empty the buckets? I can just add my nutes to that water? Please say this is so. That would save me a LOT of time and water.

What would cause my ph to go up and ppm's to go down?

Last night 6.1 and 1100ppms, this morning 6.4 and 800ppms. Did I just not let it circulate long enough to get actual readings? Should I go ahead and add nutes or ph down?

Thank God,hmmm, Useless, for it is so. That will save me about 60 gallons a week. And the time to empty, clean and refill. Thanks Useless. Always a pleasure.

awsome thread guys, aperently I have been making the same mistake as a few others. I drain my DWC and fill with clean water plus advanced nutrients version of hygrozime and run for 24 hrs. then drain that and fill with nutrient water. :BangHead::BangHead:.

At least I dont feel to bad cause im not the only one that did this.

I am going to get the supplies right now for a simple cheap 2 bucket RDWC and will be starting a grow thread and DIY on building it, so glad I read this first, and good luck to you nippie I look forward to the pictures.

    CORRECT!

Use the clean water for your weekly water, do not empty, ONLY fill ONCE a week, ONLY empty ONCE a week

    yah, we have loooong winters

    do the ph down

  15. CCrete

    CCrete Mr. Poopyfacepeepeehead

RELAX man, the nutes will give them a tint a lil bit.....as for the slime, Ive been there......fight thru it and you'll learn a lot, i promise

Get a bucket of fresh water, take the lid/plant and dunk it in a few times, massage the roots till they seem cleaned......dump that water, rub it all again....try and battle thru it..........but then again thats why I run the hygrozyme during VEG only, especially during the first 2-3 weeks......to me....the small plant allows the entire bucket to absorb light and then the temps go up....the other issue is, depending on what medium your using the hold the plant (hydroton in MY case).....with the smaller plant the medium is exposed and light can travel thru the hydroton and hit the water on the top of the bucket, in my experience, as soon as the canopy goes to about 10inch round....the B.S. stops........but you have to make it thru that point/obstacle.....cover the bucket with something, especially the top......also, as soon as the roots take hold and REALLY start eating a mass majority of any issues cease

Thanks they look good, but lights just came on in the rest of the room so I could get a good inspection.

Roots are still strong but the slime is fucked up, never expected this. Ill take the advice.

Sorry for the over reaction, how low can I take temps before I cause damage to plants?

BTW, right down the river, weather sux here too

Ok started my drain regiment once a week last night by filling with water (6.5ph) and put about 25ml's of ph down with it.

    24hrs later it was 7.0ph.

I added nutes to all 3 systems and waiting till tomorrow to check ph and adjust.

CC your right about the root rot and slime the first weeks till the foliage covers the buckets from light. :thumbs-up:
