It's stuff like this that used to really get me down when I was a practicing attorney, cause I'd see it all the time, all around me, and even participate in it.

Now you think the law firm and/or Jared Kushner (who is no doubt aware of it at this point) will do the right thing and un-fuck this poor woman's life?

Let's see what happens.

 

Not double dipping. She got written permission to leave months before the fact. She did not break the lease. She got swept up in a "collect everything" handover to a law firm, and a clerk of some kind made an error. This was years after she had moved out, and Kushner didn't own the building when she lived there. He bought the company, and as a result the collections efforts were stepped up. The lawyer may or may not have known she didn't break the lease because his client was telling him she did. They are not paid to be fair, they are paid to win, but interestingly, they had no documentary evidence that she DID break the lease. The judge just sided with the real estate company lawyer on the pleadings without evidence, even though the burden of proof is on the plaintiff at that stage. Oral assertions made by lawyers in court are not evidence, unless they are made as witnesses under oath and can be cross examined. Pleadings are not evidence. Thems the rules folks. That is black letter reversible error on appeal.

Her first court appearance she didn't have the letter she received from the landlord that confirmed she did not break the lease. Only after the judgement was filed did she present the letter, which was (unless you are Jared kushner) too late.

But now he knows. As in today. It's not a number on a spreadsheet (or the balance of an account) to him anymore. It's public knowledge. He could make it right. He's fucking God for christ sake. All it took was $5,000 to sink her.

This is one nozzle of the octopus vacuum monster that the rich attach to the poor - a tap, a leach locked on, sucking the life's blood from the masses. All rolled into "industry standards" and hey it's just business. Sickening.

 

That's a very good point, and you would make a damn good trial lawyer. It would be double dipping if there had been a debt to write off. But she didn't break the lease. There was no debt to write off to begin with. When kushner bought the company, he tried to suck more money out of it, resulting in increased collection efforts, which resulted in Warren accidentally getting fucked.

I picked a tick off my cat tonight. Around the swollen lump where he was dug in, in the tenderized inflamed fleshy wound, were three additional, smaller ticks taking advantage of the situation. Or four.

How much of her judgement was legal fees and court costs? Is this how the lawyer feeds his kids? Or can afford to send them to private school? Does the lawyer's necessity and possible ignorance (hard to argue with a judge saying "YOU WIN!") make him innocent? Or an idiot with no soul maybe A blind and at best unknowing part of the machine that eats us all. I know a few of them and some are clever, most are glib. none are good despite the shine of church. the smart ones choose to not know.

I just stopped practicing law. So I could live with myself.

 

On kushner's books it was an account paid in full. And they fucked her life anyway. She was just a piece of flesh caught in the tread of the tank as it rolled through.

Its is this kind of shit that sharpens pitchforks. I mean, the rich can only play these games for so long until the huddled masses say fuck! enough is enough. If you squeeze the stone too hard, the blood that leaks out is acid. French revolution?

But wait hoping is not an order and prob doesn't meet the standard for criminal prosecution. So what's the big deal? Well sure prob is impeachable but who wants that? ( hint hint)

I'll tell you what the big deal is and it ain't leaks. It's trump and his lackeys and how they are making money. I want to know.

It's trump enriching himself by abusing his power. It's trump selling out to the highest bidder. It's trump putting himself ahead of his job and my country. Note that he clearly doesn't even pretend to care that Russia influenced the election. But hey I wouldn't cry too hard either if Russia put me in power.

I'd like to see trump in jail. He could do a new reality show orange is orange. It would be a fitting denouement for this comedy in three acts. But the tag line wouldn't be trump saying "you're fired" but him moaning "I'm tired " over his shoulder while his cell mate gleefully greases up and licks his lips for the camera. "No sleep yet Rump! Get ready for round 4!"

 

Trump probably thought like half of America; they're all corrupt so this will be easy. Boy was he wrong. Oopsy! I watched today's hearings and I believe Comey before I believe Trump.

 

I only listened to the hearing on the radio, but the sense I got was he was being completely honest. It would be hard to make that shit up and tell it on the national stage. It's like Trump takes his cues from Putin - muscle your way around.

Even if trump himself is not guilty of being an undisclosed foreign agent (aka traitorous spy) he sure acts like he is.

Pence scares me, every time he speaks I get this southern mega pastor vibe. It's down right creepy.

 

What's really going to be funny now is how all the different interests spin the same set of facts to fit their narrative.

I know I am worried about american law enforcement being frustrated, and I'm so relieved that Sessions is in there to thrill them.

So Sessions decides to dodge questions that are probably damning to him or trump, and tries to hang his hat on a mysterious "policy" as justification? He's the TOP lawyer in the entire country, and he didn't ask for a copy of this mystery policy? No documentation at all to back it up? What I see is total arrogance. He is obstructing justice. He lied.

How is it that he is still AG when he already got caught to congress? WTF? He swore under oath before congress that he never had contacts with the Russians during the campaign.

When the plebes lie under oath we call it perjury. When Sessions does it he calls it policy.
