dang link they are filling in fast as shit!!! that day15 pic looks awesome!(so does the day 20 just inferring how fast they are budding so early on) awesome man! looks like if you get them trained right you will have a nice pull. any of those clones root yet?
They all got trained pretty hardcore during veg, so most of the branching has made it to the canopy by now. They'll be left to do their thing, with only minimal training here and there. I got a few clones to root, but not nearly as many as I had hoped. I've never had great results with cloning, so I decided to try Sannie's Spongepot Roots on the next cuttings. The Thai99 clones are the Sativa looking ones, around the outside
Update: Totally stocked! After 3 weeks trying to root, one of the clones from my favorite pheno Thai99(3), finally showed some roots. It would have sucked to not get an offspring of this pheno, seeing as these seeds are no longer on the market. She got transplanted to grow mix right away.
same DLR.....sometimes cloning can be hot or miss thought. You ever think of adding some more airstones to your cloner for better results since you said you were having some trouble? (I think i remember reading something like that about your cloner....you feeling like there are not enough bubbles on one side or somethin....) Congrats tho! They look very nice.
Hey Teach, yeah the bubble cloner thing. I got the feeling that there were not enough bubbles "popping" on the one side of the airstone, although the plants on that side were still looking healthy. I could have added another air stone, but then I'd need another air pump too. That's more money and a whole lot more noise. I couldn't risk finding out if the ghetto bubbler might or might not have worked, so I put them in jiffys to finish rooting. They didn't like the move a lot, they got pretty droopy and stuff, but about half of them pulled through non the less. So I got at least one clone each from all of the 5 selected Thai99 phenos, but neither of the two Mach Fly clones made it. I'm put the ghetto cloner idea on ice...ordered some spongepots roots for a hopefull sucessfull next cloning.
you dont need another airpump, just go to a hardware store and get a T fitting for the other airstone. will have the GF take a pic when she gets home to show you what im talking about. i was in the same dilemma with one airstone and one side bubbling that the T idea hit me! the bubble clones work like a charm im telling ya, i made mine out of one of those plastic shoe boxes, perfect size.(the kind chicks use to store 1 par out of their hundreds of shoes)lol
Update: Hermy alert!! Motherfucker!! The MachFly, the best looking plant in the tent, had a few nanners in the top of the main cola. By the looks of it, a few buds got pollinated lightly, they are getting sprayed with water at lights off. I'm fucking pissed, because they have been treated like fucking queens, with no stress besides the training and trimmming. I'm fucking pissed because its not on me that she was gender confused, its the breeder's incapability of breeding true females. I'm watching the other MachFly like a fucking hawk. Oh well, looking at the bright side of things...there is a little more breathing room for the others.
Update: Day 25 of 12/12. Everything is looking on good and steady, no more hermies detected. Thai99, reaching for the sky :flyy: MachFly, the best trich production of them all, she's getting frosty already
Update: Day 30 of 12/12. Another hermy showed some nanners. This time it was a Thai99 (pheno 4). It and its clones were removed right away. 7 plants are left, 6 Thai99 and 1 MachFly. Things are looking good, some plants are yellowing up a little too early though. I made a vid to give you guys a better impression of the whole spiel
Update: The plants look great, but more hermies have showed. I removed one because she had too many nanners to control. So now I'm down to 6 plants, 3 true females (so far), and 3 hermies that only thow out a nanner here and there. Sure I'd like to throw out all the hermy bitches, but if I did, I would lose so much weight. I have checked every parameter of the god damn grow and there is absolutely nothing that should cause all the hermy action, no light leaks or any other stress. I don't get it, but ya just gotta move on. Obviously I've thrown out all offspring clones of the hermy bitches. Anyways, it sucks but oh well. Here a pic of one of a true female Thai99 Thai99 Here ya can see a seed forming, god damn hermies.....:BangHead:
I don't think a hermie is necessarily a bad thing. Granted, a lot of male flowers pollinating the entire crop is not desirable. But I don't mind a few seeds here and there. If they're produced by a hermie, at least you know those seeds are going to be female. And if they are produced by self fertilization, they should be identical to the parent, much like a clone. I've always had really good luck growing out the occasional hermie-produced seed.
Hey dudes, thanks for the posts, its always more encouraging to post pics when there is some sort of response. Can't say that I agree, once a hermy always a hermy. I'm on a quest to find true females, only the strongest are worthy of the time and effort. There is no way I'd grow out those seeds, and risk ruinning a whole crop. Plus I don't wanna have to inspect every plant, every freakin week. I invested 3 months in some of those plants, only to find out that they are fucking hermies, I never wanna have to do that again. I got a half empty tent, hundreds of grams of potential harvest weight is out the window, and the 600w HPS is wasting lumens on the remaining ladies. Why risk doing that all over? Here some pics of the Thai99 that was removed. She was by far one of the frostiest in there. She was also the closest representation of a C99, in terms of the smell and weeping willow branching. Here the pics you can see the pollinated pistils in this pic
Looks like you will still pull some smoke. Good job now at least you have a decent female to work with. t6
Update: The remaining ladies are @ 50 days 12/12. Things are really taking off now, the buds are bulking up and the trich production is in high gear. I think the 600w HPS is just kicking ass, up until now I've only grown with 400w..... there is turning back now, not after seeing the difference it makes. MachFly Thai99
