My new setup and Permafrost grow

sadly, we're getting to the point where my cell phone pics just won't cut it. I'm going to have to go get the better camera after finals week.


The girls are continuing to beef a little bit, but mine are not going particularly fast. on the other hand, my caregiver's crop is EXPLODING, he's got 4 white widows at 6 weeks flowering right now in a 3.5x3.5 box under a 1k light with a propane CO2 burner (I'd be HIGHLY surprised if his largest plant yielded less than three ounces, but don't tell him that). Does anyone know the average flowering times for white widow and how much CO2 should affect it? I believe he's starting the final flush on thursdayish... it looks to me like they should be done in 3ish weeks but my eyes aren't great... could be sooner than that. how have yalls gone?


Permafrosts are around week 5... 4 weeks to go. the largest budsites are about 3 inches long, and the development of the sites seems behind where it's supposed to be for this timeline, but it's already started the mass resin production that makes me love this strain. even grown in so-so conditions by a NOOB like myself, this strain comes out white if left to grow a little longer than 8 weeks. i have two other friends who grow this strain, and both chop earlier than I do. It's all fantastic, not much smell, but mine with the extra week of flowering gets the characteristic permafrost purple tint hidden under a literal coat of dusky white resin crystals.


So... I know this is a nooby question... but I'm not sure why my budsites are so small compared to other plants this age. any ideas? any suggestions for future improvement? I can think of two things... first that I grew ginormous bushes (the three larger are about 3' tall and 2.5' wide, the last is narrower), so there are more smaller budsites, and second that my Ph was messed up for about two weeks right at the start of flowering. still, it's pissing me off, and it's not gonna happen this way again next grow even if I have to go spend $1500 on new lights and a CO2 generator.

last night I realized that my res pump and airstones hadn't been running since the last flush... I'm surprised my shit's still alive. no wonder its so stunted.


on top of that, around here it's getting below zero at night, so I've been manually plugging and unplugging the fans a few times a day, but the temps still aren't consistent enough for my needs by a long shot. like... I think nights are hitting below 50.


honestly, I'm gonna be happy with what I can get out of this grow. I'm hoping the next run through is going to be a testament to my abilities.

 

about the slow updates... Double major = no time around finals week.


3 weeks since last pics were taken according to my records. I've had a hard time with consistently low Ph in my reservoirs. Next grow i'm getting an electric Ph and TDS meter so I don't have to try and Ph by color drops... the tracers in my ferts color the water too dark to tell the color accurately.


My caregiver just harvested his first 4 plant indoor crop of White Widow at 7 weeks (wanted to go longer, but the cheap chinese ballast fried at exactly week 7) and man can I see the difference CO2 injection makes. I'm guesstimating about 3 ounces per plant... probably would have been a QP each if they'd gone a little longer.


Approximately 10 days from harvest... starting flush today! I'm not telling harvest by the color of the trichs though i can check before I do, but rather by how I like my bud. I've seen this strain grown out probably 8 times, and I like it best around a day 60 chop, maybe a couple later.

I cut a few Permafrost nugs that got burned at 6 weeks and dried them aside the white widow. both smell sweet, but permafrost smells sharper/spicier whereas widow smells more like candy poo. still, both very sweet odors. The permafrost tends to purple more than the Widow and has very white resin glands from an early date (consistently in my grows anyway... a couple friends who grow the same strain don't have nearly as frosty results), whereas the widows tend to be normal through flowering and whiten during the last week or two (meaning my Perm is MUCH whiter than the 7 week chopped widow). The average yield (coming from the guy who gave me this round of clones) is comparable, however the Permafrost is a bigger Phosphorous hog and tends to be more tempremental.


There's a comparison for whoever quoted that lame-ass Urban Dictionary entry when I put up a grow report I'll make sure to post final side-by-side shots of the dried products so there can be no more question that the Perms is "Just regular hydro that high schoolers who never get good pot brag to their friends about for months" or whatever.

 

the cops got my shit. they raided me on christmas eve. no harvest for me.


But man are those guys getting sued something fierce after this. I was careful to stay perfectly within state law.

can we get an explanation? Not that we deserve one...but I want one!

 

They got my computer so i had the mods shut down my account for a while.


i got a piece of duct tape caught in an outtake fan and my downstairs neighbors called my landlord and then the cops. the landlord got there within 3 hours of their call... so i'm pretty upset with them. the cops lied about being able to smell it out on the street, then raided around dark on christmas eve with a full swat team.


the warrant basically says marijuana is bad and 3 cops said they could smell marijuana and dryer sheets at street level 15 yards from my window (on the second story), and I don't even have a dryer. but obviously, everyone who grows pot uses dryer sheets to cover the smell, right? they didn't have an undercover... and I don't sell, anyway.


I, of course, was with my family out of town.


they posted the warrant a foot from the floor in a corner of the living room BEHIND a frog tank and caused way more damage than I would think would be "in good faith". they cut all my plants and took anything marijuana-related at all out of my apartment EXCEPT my reservoir for my hydro setup... they just broke all the seals and left it leaking out 18 gallons of water on my floor until I got there a day and a half later.


then I went to the station, and mr. bad cop lied all over the place at me, tried to make me say shit and swung his fat ass with a gun poking out the edge in my face. what a prick.


oh, and when I told him what I was doing was completely legal, he said "no it's not, and if you want to argue that, you can spend the night in lock up". fuck that guy majorly.


the kicker... it costs $5,000 to sue someone, and I'd only be able to claim about $4000 for destroyed medicine and maliciously destroyed property.


they majorly fucked my life and almost cost me a quarter's worth of school i'd already paid for, and they laughed while they did it. Medical Marijuana is as legal as the man with the gun who is robbing you says it is in washington state, apparently. Wow, I hate these guys.


So i'm investing in about 4000 watts of light. including police storage I am currently at about 2k watts combined for veg and flower, end goal is 6 600w for flowering and 2 4 bulb t5s for veg. I've designed the space and am just waiting on cash.


maybe I'll be able to "fill my supply" with that. pricks. after all, I've gotta go bury some I can dig up the next time I get fucked.

congrats being back at it, fuck the cops.(for the most part, yes we still need them) you can think of it as you got lucky you weren't there when they raided it and maybe had some rookie task force motherfucker with an itchy finger coming through your door.....

 

Nice set-up and I am sorry to hear you had those problems. I'm sure it's gotta suck.
