First off GREAT content! I have been supporting Hillary with my monies but Sanders is neck and neck. My eyes are on Ohio! I'd be okay with Bernie as POTUS but can he survive the "Socialist" label? Singing back towards the "Left" is what we really need IMO.
Rand is my boy! But he's a lost hope. Clinton, Trump, Cruz or Rubio? No thank you. Leaves the ol' Bern as far as I can tell.
So here's the deal guys, and why I'm so interested, beyond the obvious of course. As of 2011 13.5% of Americans use cannabis annually. That's 40,000,000 people. Even if only half of those vote and half of those again vote as a bloc for pro cannabis Presidential candidates? That's 10,000,000 votes. 20% of the total votes any Presidential candidate can hope to attain. There's no reason this shouldn't be a top issue for anybody who uses, or knows somebody who uses, cannabis. With those kind of numbers we, Anti-Prohibitionists, should be able to get whomever we want elected.
bernie doesn't want to end prohibition, he wants to get elected. he's giving away free unicorns as we speak. but i can not and will not ever support bernie, i'm not going to ruin my kids' futures to end the drug war. hell i'm pretty sure bernie wants all middle class whites to be in chains for something that happened 300 years ago
To add clarity; Bernie supports legalization of Cannabis but anyone that takes office and becomes POTUS absolutely has to defend the laws as they are. It's up to us to continue the effort to legalize State by State. The problem of funding is a real problem. I read that the Sean Parker effort will spend half a million on getting the signatures but up to ten million on advertising the initiative. It is interesting that young people are following Sanders.. Could help here in California.
You gots to remember, Bernie would be dealing with a repub House and Senate. The spending battles could be epic. Think Reagan/O'Neill, Clinton/Gingrich. Often times, in politics, odd bedfellows make things run more effectively. Methinks he'd have a hard time passing his more idealistic socialist economics through such bodies. Sanders has been pro-cannabis since Vermont fought for med use. He's been on the side of ending the drug war consistently throughout his career. This is not a new issue for him.
