I thought those units just recirculate the air in the room. The only lines are coming and going to the compressor and a drain line for the condensed water. But some may be vented, I dunno. Either way that cool air is going to drop pretty quickly building a layer from the floor up. The homes I worked in that had them had ceiling fans to keep the air circulated. But with growing the constant heat rising is going to create some circulation. I guess as long as you're letting the cool air drop before it can be drawn out by the fans. I'm thinking maybe head level or just above the plant height. Just wondering if there's really any reason to cool from there up? I dunno!! Good luck, you've got a hell of a project going there. Hope it works out well for you!! Be Cool, CG
If you build it, they will grow. :5eek: I don't know what a minisplit looks like, but I would say make sure the cold air is entering the room near the top of the room, and that the vent opening for the exhaust fan is also near the top of the room and as far away from the cool air outlet as possible. You could even rig a vertical barrier of some kind to ensure the cold air isn't just being sucked across the room into the exhaust. But ya know with the oscillating fans or whatever you use to circ the air in the room goin, it's hard to tell what the air currents are gonna look like. HVAC guys?
got the rooms all done except the ceiling...walls and ceiling go plywood, 1inch coated foamboard, then 6mil black heavy duty plastic, r-19 sound barrier insulation between the studs, then black plastic on other side and foamboard then plywood again. Its how ALL of the walls are done and ceiling will be done, im hoping for an R value of atleast 28+...which is 4-5 times greater than your average newly built house of over $200,000. To say the least..its insanely insulated and soundproofed without buying actual sound-barrier which is crazy $$$. Then the walls/ceiling will also be covered by panda film, so another 6mil layer will add more R value. Got a 12inch MAX FAN for my bottom line exhaust, 1887CFM I believe and ill add an 8inch fan and then a 6inch fan at the end to complete around a 3,000 CFM situation for air handling. Also have the Fujitsu brand 24k btu Mini split to install, waiting on the other one still from the main supplier. Installing all the plug boxes and pulling the lines this week for the electric. Also going to look into how to design a hard ducted air system for exhaust Also decided to run a RDWC system again, probably a 6 bucket Doing 3 rows of lights, 1ks on the ends and 2-600s in the middle, going to run this way until I see how it yields, then can add whatever I need from there Work work work..
Thats awsome man, your gonna need a big trimmer. Lol. I thought mini splits were not vented either, thats the whole point is so your not sucking the cold air out. I would just vent the hoods, have an intake from outside going to hoods and vent right back out. That way you have a sealed room and can run co2.
im doing VERT bulbs, no hoods I am by no means saying I have a clue what im doing either :roffl: Ive been reading for a while and trying to duplicate a few rooms ive watched being built...I built 2 of em myself for friends so I have an idea but im trying to out-do them on this one, spare no expense started doing the wiring today as well..
CC, I just finished reading this thread from beginning to end, Nice Job dude. :goodjob: I can just see those rooms filled. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished pictures. :redbong:
its been a major undertaking for sure but now I have a place to put my toys and keep the grow away from the family/kids...plus hide:thumbsup:
Look at you grow. So sparing no expense like adding security cams so you don't lie awake at night? I know I would during the last couple weeks when they are just about ready and you get all noided out. If you don't have internet close I did a cute little GSM shield with Arduino set up for someone else. They had full bars 3G cell service but the nearest pole with telco service was about 3/4 of a mile. I added the arduino as an add on device to so he pays $10 a month for it's service (he has unlimited data in his plan). It uses cell to transmit the video back to his home computer for recording and serving out so he can view it from his iphone. I don't know how you have the energy or manpower to trim all that. I know it takes green to make green but SHEESH. Good Work! Me
4 cam system is already bought, lol....strait to the smartphone 1 on the outside door, 1 in main garage pointed at the entrance door, 1 on the temp/humidity gauges, 1 is unknown so far This is a new piece of property I bought (19.6 acre), literally on the crest of a hill with a 600ft long driveway and a 6ft tall gate, full 6ft tall privacy fence with barbed 2ft overhangs goes in, in about 5-6 weeks one day itll be done, getn fucked by the elec company right now, the storms didn't help either
Sounds like a regular Stalag 13 there Col Klink:kidding:. But you really can't over secure something in that situation!! What, is the elect company dicking around getting your service connected? I was also wondering if the wiring, or at least the main panel, has to pass inspection even though it's not a residence. Maybe for insurance purposes. It's a big fucking project and it'll pay off in the long run!! Gook luck!! Be Cool, CG
yes, its all been passed, nobody has to come anymore to sign off on anything the weather has been horrible here to past 2 weeks, elec company is in "restoration mode" which means no new services are being put on the schedule at this time....which me im getting fucked!!! aaaand when they do theres like a 7-21 day waiting list, aaaand I imagine im on the bottom somehow..
ok well got the electric ON last week! Got the mini splits installed and a 8k window unit for the veg/clone/supply/drying room...got all the panda hung up, installed 6 air king wall mount fans 16inch...built an "M" shaped set of plywood tables to fit the room perfectly to fit the flood and drain tables with 2ft walkways in between the rows....guna fit in 3-3x3, 1-8x4, 1-4x4, 2-3x6 and 2-2x2 tables for 9 total tables....going with 3200watts per row with 1-1k on each end a 2-600s in middle....got a different main exhaust fan, max fan rated at 1785cfm....also running a 8inch at 830cfm and a 6inch at 468cfm....all inline with each other and a 6inch for the veg room. All fans carbon filtered. Guna do a test run sunday and see where the temps run at.. Ill post some pics sunday or Monday Also got some cable, fridge, microwave, foreman grill, coffee maker, surround sound and a badass couch and ottoman! I aint never goin home!:roffl:
