:-welcome-: to the show. If you have some flat white paint you can paint the inside of your closet. Cheaper then the Panda Film, works just as well. What are your plans for flowering? Peace.....
although expensive AT FIRST, maybe look into the DIGITAL ballasts that run a 400,600 and 1,000 bulb........you can choose whatever you want/like for your setup, once its bought, its a forever product......just keep buying bulbs, you can customise to your space givin and even if you want to upgrade your room, bippitybang you already have any of the 3 you would like to buy on hand, just buy a bulb!!! Cuz if its too hot, then you wanna downgrade OR too cool, then u can go up in wattage......that way you also dont have to rebuild to suit the bulb/heat issues And WELCOME to GK Teeasssit:
TEE I started growing 2 yrs ago and my first purchase was a 400W HPS system on ebay for $189. I received a cool tube, digital ballast, and HPS bulb.... it was a chinese system but worked well for me. I upgraded to a Quantum dimable/switchable digital ballast that can fire either a 400 or 600W HPS/MH. I now use the 400W for vegging. Just follow the excellent advice here and you will do fine. The pH pen is a must as well
Panda film huh got it ordered thanks and I hate to say this now but I already ordered a led 600 w grow light ill give it a shot and if it doesn't work like I'd like I can always swap over to hps don't want to waste money I already spent
If you don't mind the money being gone, you got a nice veg/clone light out of the led at least.....:bong2:
Can I ask, what type of LED light? and can you give u a link? If you dont mind... I wanna check it out bud.
http://www.amazon.com/Light-Lighthouse-Hydro-BlackStar-Flowering/dp/B004E63710 its the closest one to the ebay one i bought
Nice, Nice. The BlackStar is a great LED. Good selection. Worth buying. +1 I believe Chaz, or SpecialED420 Has one? can anybody confirm? Dlr, $550 Is expansive, but I think it will pay for itself, on saving the electricity, and cooling. He doesnt have to buy a blower. And it keeps him.... worried free. Nice find. I suggest you get a small oscillating fan, to keep air moving in there.
i have a intake fan in my other room and above those lights i just installed a computer fan for exhaust. I have been looking at the panda film and is maken wonder if this material is alright to be cute up into smaller strips for the room
Excellent. Yes Panda Film, can be easily cut with scissors or a knife. Then stapled, glued, or taped to whatever surface you feel like. Intake fan is perfect to keep fresh air pumping in there.
alright thats what i figured but just to make sure since it kinda looked like a tarp i own and know that wold be a bad idea cuttin up lol
Wellcome aboard Tee  I know a lot of guys like to use PH pens I've found even expensive one to flukey from time to time. For instant results that are rock solid time after time I've started unsing simple drops & a color strip. Works every time & it's cheap. http://sunlightsupply.com/p-11678-general-hydroponics-ph-control-kit.aspx Looking forward to seeing what you produce from that LED. For a small space like yours I' suspect it will work quite will. Don't let the nay sayers get ya down. Good to see you've got the scratch to purchase quality equipment tho. On that note, until you're up and running on your I'd suggest you run anything you're thinking of buying by the group before pulling trigger. These guys will save you a ton of $$$ cheers Duc
Tee. Just follow the advice you get here and you can't go wrong. Don't ask questions and then just disregaurd the advice that is given and you'll do fine. Panda is a nice product to work with and can be cut up, taped, stapled, glued, whatever you want. Put it on your cieling and walls. Clean up your wiring. A couple of 150 watt cfls and some good mogul sockets for them and your plants in veg will love them. A very common mistake for new growers is to over water and kill their plants. Take it easy on the watering, all the way through your grow, not just in veg. I don't know about the LED light. Since your not going to be using it for flowering for awhile, I'd do what Lion suggests and use it for vegging and try to get an HPS for your flowering stage. A good one isn't too expensive and if the room is right, a 600 will get you nice tight buds. Again, welcome to GK.
So ya they are turning yellow so I swapped to just distilled, I found my soil is at 7.0 ph but the new tester didn't come with any ph up or down. The panda siding was put in last week so right now slowed down on watering them now with a mister type sprayer not the steam type I had, one of my friends game me a packet of small rockwool cudes, I'm thinkin from the study I've been doin and ordered foxfarm for which ever way I decide but first I want to try growing the seedlings in rockwool then plant it both soil and keep them in the hydro system
Did you recieve your LED yet? You ph need to be 6.5...not 7..... You need to correct that with PH down, immidiatly, otherwise they are gonna die. Yellow is just the beggining. you need to Ph your water, normal water, not distiled, to 6.5 PH then flush your plants with that few times, untill the soil Ph is back on track. Are you really misting with a bottle nozzle on your plants? or soil? that doesnt sound good at all. You need to be watering the water in to the soil, not misting stuff..... You know, that you dont need nutes to grow a plant...... You need to stick to soil man, dont jump in to hydro, until you got the soil part down first. Rock cubes are perfect for hydro, so dont use them... stick to soil. You can always restart.... pots, soil, seed, little bit of water, you will be fine. You should ask question, before you do stuff like this, rather then jumping to decisions. We will guide you in the right path.... Pictures would be great, but 7 ph, is whats causing it.. Foxfarm is great soil, but if the Ph is not at 6.5 then its not gonna benefit your garden.
In soil the PH should ideally be around 6.6 or just slightly acidic. The 5.8 range is for hydro guys.
lol fare enough the problem with asking any question is i dont feel like getting made fun of for asking a question i cant find online but my idea since i have seen it before is i can use both rockwool and foxfarm together that what i gonna try on three seeds if it dont work o well, thanks for the ph meter once my water ph tester here i can mess with it a little i am going to stick with soil for right now im doin these small tests to see what they can do and see if im doin it right or not, obiously i am right now and most likely all but 2 or three will die im to new to fix them properly but if u guys want ill throw up a pic
