NEVER be afraid to ask questions. That's what we're here for. This is a forum to help people get better at growing. We only make fun of people who DON'T ask questions and then wonder what happened. These people will help you BEFORE you go spend money and waste it on unnessasary stuff. They'll help on you sick plants or to just plain ol' help. This is the forum you want and need. It is the forum to LEARN. You can't learn if your afraid to ask how.

Ya, Tee you definitely have something going on right now.

You posted your first pics on the 17th, and its now the 5th.

They should have exploded in growth by now, alot

Its actually the same thing that happend to me with Super Lemon Haze, same exact thing, yellow, growth stops and they begin to die.

You could start over with you FoxFarm soil instead, with new seeds.

I believe its the MiracleGro that is causing this PH jumps.

So Im wondering..with few questions to you.

Are you using any nutes? ( which you should not at early stage)

Are you using distilled water, from the beggining like you said? ( you should try just plain ol sink water, from now on, and the next time maybe)

Are you pouring the water in to the soil? misting actual plants? or misting the soil? or...

I would recommend to restart, but its up to you, seems like it might be difficult to recover from this, unless you get that Ph back on track. Its gonna be rough, and take few weeks.

Well I'm just gonna keep them goin until they die and just restart with fox farm I tried nutes watered down on two on them they died the same way but that's what trial an error is for I am using distilled and I'm misting the soil

Ok Excellent, When you restart try to fallow this:

Dont use any nutes, until they are 3-4 weeks old.

Get the fresh water from you kitchen sink, rather then distilled.

Use Foxfarm soil now, rather then MiracleGro( it always has problems due to time release fertilizers)

And dont mist the soil. You need to pour the actual water in to the soil, around the stock of the seedling. Misting does not do any good. The roots need the water inside the soil.

Dont use alot of water, like 7--CocaCola-Bottle-Caps--worth ( good estimate). Only water them every 2 days, sense they are so small, they dont need that much water untill they get bigger. Then few weeks in to it, more and more water will be needed ofcourse.

You will get used to it. :)

Btw, Nice Panda Film Setup, look great. Perfect setup.

That should do it, Im thinking.

And ofcourse keep trying until you succeed bud.

    Keep us updated. :thumbs-up:

Alrighty ill get that started when the soil get to me but hell if just grabbing a plastic pop bottle and dump in 7 little caps of water only question with swapping to tap water is with the high calcium I don't have a home water filtrater yet and I've heared about airating the water should I bother with that or just swap from distilled to tap I can buy at the store

Dont worry about the high calcium, that will have no effect at all, not even minor damage. Your sink water will be perfect. No need for filter. You don't even need to buy any store water. Just use palin ol sink water, but make sure its PH is at 6.5.

The aerating of the water is not needed at all. You sink water will be perfect. :thumbs-up: But when you start to use nutes, that might be helpful, but not necessary, which im going to explain down further.

The reason some people use airstones, is because they use, 55gallon reservours of water, that sit there for days or weeks at the time, so the water gets stale, no oxygen in it, and need to be aerated because it is stale. ( aka. Hydroponics)

The second reason is, when people start to use nutes on their plants, the water and the nutes will cause the PH to either go up or down, after few hours. And you could use this for future knowledge. So Example... you get your gallon or w/e of water and decided to mix nutes it, you pour the nutes in to the water, and measure with you PH meter. It says 6.5. Ok good... But watch, you come back 12-24 hours later, and it will be like 6.2 or 6.7. Some how in it the 12-24 hours it just adjusted to that.. Weird. Then you see that jump and correct it back to 6.5 with PH Up or Down. So thats why some people put in the airstone in their water/nutes mixture, for 24 hours, and let it bubble, because PH can trick you like that.

I hope that answers your questions.

Feel free to ask anything else. :thumbs-up:

and no nutes yet. You shouldn't need any nutes till you get your second or third set of leaves. Water till damp. I'd like to disagree about every two days tho. With seedlings the soil will stay damp for about 4 -5 days. You would rather have your soil get a little dry than stay damp. The roots will search downward for the water as a deep watering will keep the lower end of your cups wet. Also watch what soil you get. Some Fox Farm soil also has nutes in it and it will burn your plants and then, pffft, there they go, dead.

Personally with seedlings I water until the water runs out of the bottom of the container. They get a really good soaking. That will last them a good week or two.

Ive never found time release soil to cause much of an issue either. Every now and again you will a little burn but nothing that cause stunted growth or anything like that.

As for oxygen getting to the roots, if you have a good mix of aggregate such as perlite in the soil that will supply all the oxygen soil grows will need.

The plants you have going now probably just need a good watering and light. Your using floro strip lighting right? If so it needs to be about 2 inches from the top of the plants.

With the water and lighting you should see massive growth.

I just was reading what type it was and I got the ocean forest (14053) nutes being 6-6.3 it said I've noticed something with this and never bothered to take a look but I've seen fox farm out side the bag and it looks like perlite was put in, is that a DIY or comes with it, I don't think I need to order and mix in perlite but just ought I'd ask just incase

Most good soil comes with some perlite in it.

Lvsticky is right. Dont bother with adding more perlite. Dont worry about it. Most soils got some in it, especially FoxFarm, that should be plenty enough. Perlite helps a bit, but its not necessary.

And Skuzz, time release aint bad, But I just hear so much bad stuff about MiracleGro, :icon_confused: I know it fucked my plants atleast twice now.

And Tee, as you can see everyone has different option on how to water the seedlings. Some give it a alot of water, one time, and wait a week for it to dry up. While others like to give it a tiny bit of water, every few days. Intresting options.

well that makes life easier but comparatively to misting them 2 times a day (which i found to be 1 little cap of water to it lol so id be puting two caps of water in each plant

  18. bncooldude13

bncooldude13 I supply your drug dealer

Do like 7 caps, and wait 2-3 days. See if soil dries up. ( Yup I just did 7 caps in to a cup in the kitchen, and it seem perfect amount of water for seedlings, then wait till the soil looks dry, almost like light brown color.)

    Ya misting doesnt work.

You need to pour actual water right in to the soil. Dont mist brotha.. pour...

Firstly,Welcome. Secondly,as good as the advice is round here its important to remember that essentially you are growing a weed that has survived and flourished for millenia in all manner of conditions. It aint rocket science, although neither is making wine but theres still techniques to improve your quality/quantity,etc.For now just get some experience and homegrown weed under your belt and then its prudent to invest in more expensive stuff.

Start of simple then climb the ladder. Like people have said if you cant get mylar then gloss white paint will reflect more lumens than foil ever will.Keep an eye on your temps obviously. Through in some vermiculite to go with the perlite and a decent soil and your good to go.I didnt have ph testers, loops or jackshit hen i first started out and some of the finest shit i grew was my early stuff. For me the one thing i would immediately change from your set up is the lighting. A set of 400 or 600w HPS will do wonders for the plants.Just try replicate the natural conditions the plant thrives on as best you can.Happy Growing:bong2:
