I was thinking of a 6" on the exhaust and use the 4" for the intake would that work or no?

No need for an intake fan. Keep it passive. A 6" inline on the exhaust should do the trick on its own.

Yes do a 6inch fan to "SUCK" air out

Make an 8 inch or slightly larger opening at the lowest part of your space that you can achieve......you DO NOT need a fan to blow "IN" fresh air/ new air....as long as you keep your area/ tent as tight as possible, the air will be sucked in VIA the 6inch fan thru the larger (lower) hole, FOLLOW ME???......that method is called "Passive intake".....putting a fan in to push air in would be "assited intake" i suppose

like the others said pull the air out, not push it in, it's much more efficient. i still think you'd be better off with a vented hood with 6" ports and a 6" fan. that should take of any problems you could have.

    Go 6"

This is one of the few times in life you'll hear '6 inches is all you need.' I run a 270cfm 6" fan, cooling my 600w sealed hood, in my 112 cubic foot grow tent. HEAT IS NOT AN ISSUE FOR ME. In fact, I had to pull out my protable heater a month or so early cause its now dropping to the low 60`s in my neck of the woods at night. Also,I just went into bud and the lights are off all night. During lights on, Im comfortably in the 74-77 degree range. No a/c, not even an open window. Just a tent in a room with all elements as exempilary as possible.

    Peace,

still having heat problems upgraded to one of the stanley blower in the DIY section and my temps are still up with the tent closed and I dont get it... I've used this same light in a lot smaller space and less fans and didnt have this problem... I even tried hooking up my 4" inline to the intake just in case it wasn't getting enough air and temps stayed the same... I posted a couple pics of the set up if I'm anything wrong?

OK so the duct hagning down to the left is your intake?

And the duct hanging down to the right is your exhaust?

    I see a few problems.

If the duct on the left is your intake, you need to remove that hose and draw in at a higher level. (with no duct taking away from the CFM's)

If your duct to the right is your exhaust, it's waaaay inefficient. Try to remove all hangs and droops in the flex tube you have and make it as short as possible. Everytime your duct turns 90 degrees, you lose some of your draw power from the fan.

Also, is your air exchange system air tight with no leaks?

    Do you understand?

yeah I understand and will try and get the exhaust taking care of but its kinda hard to shorten it because it's venting to the attic but I'll try and get as many bends out as I can... as far as the air tight thing everythings sealed from what I can see and once it's closed the tent kinda caves in so it's gotta be good suction...

    your good man

something isnt jiving tho....your space and lights make total sense

out of curiousity....Where is your temp probe at? Is it in the direct light beam? if so your getting an inaccurate reading on your temps

Can you get a pic of that?

    CandyMan Veggy Stage

yeah its at the bottom in the corner but heres a couple pics... It's just weird that the the temps in the room are 70 but inside the tent its 82...

Yea, that thermometer may be the issue man

Try and find one that has a separate probe on a 8ft or so long line that you can mount the meter outside your tent and let the probe hang inside the tent.....i think home depot has them or go to your local hydro store and grab one up, like $15-20 maybe

Sometimes those ones dont give a proper reading and especially when your at the floor level, you shouldnt be at 82+

Do you have a regular mercury thermometer to check against your digital? If not they are cheap and reliable.
