Fortunately, it does cool off at night here. I am running 2 1k's 9 pm to 9am. Still gets warm but no way could I run them in the day.
We've been in the 70's all night for the past week. Average days over 100 in the summer is 21, we went past that a long time ago. With my t5 on (4 lights only out of 8) the room is getting 82.
It drops to to the low 50's here at night and even with that the temps can hit 85 in the room. The plants use a lot of water but seem to handle it ok. Winter time is a breeze.
. That's what my room does in the winter with two 1kw's and just a line voltage stat on a small fan sucking in the night air. I just switched our electric to time of use and the cheap hours are 9pm to 9am.
Sometimes a guy gets lucky. 8 months out of the year no AC needed in any gardens around here. Think I've run garden AC less than 14 days so far this summer. Of course we get a stupid short outdoor season in exchange. Anything longer than 8 weeks flower usually won't finish before frost.
This right here. Someone I know went and got a couple clones for the summer since they are in the next state down that has legalized and so I asked what they got and I checked which is a 10-12 weeker and I told them that they won't make it. The last of September is it and maybe, just maybe the first week of October. I have never been able to get anything past that but they told me "No worries. The guy they got them from said it would be okay." I told them they got screwed and they told me it will work so I just said ok, it will work. Now this is being said to me as they are doing this for the first time and I usually have a few going every summer. Oh and it's zone 5 for those that don't know. I say that we are zone 4 1/2 tho. lol
I'm lucky here, mid October is usually when you have to start keeping an eye out. The nights get cool and that leads to morning dew which can cause the botrytis. We are also coming out of the drought so there's the rain to worry about now and it also starts around first/second week of October. The way my garden is situated the morning sun burns the dew off fast but if it rains I have to go out and shake them down.
