So I've been driving my self nuts trying to build this thing for the past 3 days. I guess having no plumbing experience is really killing me. I don't know if its better to use tubing to connect the buckets (Return) or to use PVC pipe. Anyway to add shut off valves to tubing? I still don't get how the system really works. I under stand the control bucket needs to have a pump in it that pumps out to the feed lines, I hear this needs to be 4" from the bottom of the control bucket. Does each plant bucket get its own feed line? I guess I need to just understand the theory around RDWC. How does the water just natuarally flow back to the control bucket? And if its all going back to the control bucket, how does it get back to the Res? I know CC has some great experience on this, so please chime in. Maybe some theory? How anyone else has created this in the past? And I have no idea how to use an ebb/flow fitting. I'm going to do some more research now. I need some designs and to understand the process. MG gave a good link if you want to try. My advice based on my exper is "it's not worth it!!" I had a hell of time with it. This is not to say you will, but it's a learning curve for sure. Basically though you need a control bucket with a pump that goes to all you grow buckets. then you need a return line from each of those at the bottom to go back to your control bucket. Water will automatically flow to the control bucket as water is self leveling. when water is pumped out of the control bucket it will suck water from the grow buckets to self level thus giving you the recirculation. The biggest pain in the ass was ph from my exper. I had wild swings and the plants paid for it. Good luck if you try, there's plenty of good info out there. Real easy to set up, real hard to maintain imho. We have have a niches though...RDWC isn't for me, simplistic Hempys is the way to go
