So for this round it was 2-tangerine dreams, 1 Sweet tooth, 1 original sour diesel, 1 galaxy, and 1 Jamaican D. I thought I had vanilla kush but those ended up being a mix up and I have no vanilla kush. :LOL: The day GK went LED I'm next. In all seriousness if I can forgo the cost of a big fan/filter/muffler combo and use an existing 4" setup I already have that is overkill for another space, and just spend the money on the lights, and a cheapo inline fan, I just might do it. I need to rig up another two-table flower room and the alternative is either four 600 watt HPS lamps or two 1000W HPS lights in cool tubes in the traditional fashion. I'm already near maxing my amp load so if I go with HPS I will def. need to run alternating bloom days, and another dedicated circuit that my panel doesn't have. PITA. I'd rather run an extension cord off an existing outlet like I did for my little 423 watt veg tent. I'm interested in your final dry weight total for all 6 plants.
I'll post pics later when I can but the td and galaxy were crispy cream today. So far grand total of 4.5oz. So a little under and oz per plant average. But the sweet tooth will make up for that I believe. Got 45g off the tangerines. And 19 off the galaxy.
You know, I noticed a switch somewhere online,?, but it would let you run the same ballasts for 2 different flowering rooms. The ballasts ran constantly and it would switch the power from one room to the other every 12 hours. It was like $259 or so, plus the cost of additional fixture cables, and looked like a good idea because the ballasts are warrantied in years not hours. So 2 ballasts could do the work of 4!! And would help on the heavy usage hours. The 3 flower rooms I have, 2 run at night and the other during the day. They're timed so all 3 are on for just a very few minutes. The 3rd smaller room had 2 400s setup in it but I unplugged them today because the ladies were ready to pluck. And put a 240w LED on a 2' x 2' ebb and flow table with 4 test subjects. If I like what I see more LED's will be added. BUT, the HID is a good heat source in the winter so my plan is to switch back and forth with the season. Be Cool, CG
The guy I got them from said he must have got the wrong pheno his dad got shit all crazy. Why I thought I had vanilla kush until it was obvious they weren't. The other one is supposed produce more large nugs and grow more similar to the sweet tooth. Veg was around 10 days or so. I'd have to double check the beginning here.
Drumroll....... So that puts dry weight at the moment of starting cure is 194g or 6.928oz, for 1.02g/w for the first go round. Sweet tooth was for sure the monster of them all. I'll loose a little more weight but should still finish up easily around 6.5-6.7. Either way I beat the 6 I was going for.Now to get these DWC buckets going. Will have to hurry up and build some frames for each tote. Will run 3-7.5g totes with two plants each. See how that does in the tight space, then try to really find the time to put some real thought into if I want to expand a little or stay the same, and then what would be the best method for the space.Thank you guys for watching and the kind words. I'll say yes I spent a lot on startup costs but it's working and working well. Yes in general I could get larger buds with a 400W HPS, though not with the number of plants I had here. The LED buds are dense though. Trich production was great. Over quality from what little bit I've sampled was top notch. I think the Jamaican D might be a little too much, shit kinda freaks me out... LOL But all in all, ease of use and ability to maintain the environment so easily I can say I'm definitely happy and don't regret even in the slightest my decision to give this a whirl.Now one thing though some of you guys in really cold climates LEDs are great but you would probably want to keep some HPS lamps around for the winter. In the winter I would Just add an HPS to use as a heat source instead of running a heater. At least then the power used to heat the space is also providing light. Though that kinda opens the door to guys who want to just run a tent in a room without cutting holes in ceilings and stuff for small personal grows. LEDs make that soooo much more possible year round. So my verdict LEDs=1, All the people I've ever talked to that said they were a waste of time= 0. Hell I was one of those about a year and a half ago or so when my buddies dad started throwing cash at them. LOL The good part it that LEDs are still a relatively new technology opposed to HID lighting. So seeing they can hang and perform well can mean some pretty cool things for growers in the future. Oh and the last couple of pics are that first wash of hash I did from the SD and TD trim. Going to do another with that and still have three more larger jars full to work with. It was like tiny glass shards when done. Not like large pieces of glass but like small little flakes. Had to heat it back up and repress it. So you hit the holy grail of g/watt.... I have yet to do that with HID... I think mostly due to environment
I wasn't expecting to hit it first time around. I've seen others get close, hit it or get over it. Even if I lost a total of 10g over the cure process which I don't see happening, I'd still be @0.97g/W. I can't complain about that. LOL I'm thinking with DXE will be getting around there when he starts doing his LED full grows.
On other forums I've read using LED the growth is more vigorous and Ca/Mg needs to be upped or yields could suffer... Have you seen that?
Guess it would be more fitting to post in here instead of the DWC thread and instead of making a new one....Little peek at what's going on. Got the tangerine in the air pot doing fine(front right corner), the solo cup ones still have lockout problems everytime think due to being root bound. The plants in the center have stayed a lime green color, hasn't gotten better but hasn't got any worse either. Might bump up the N a tiny bit on those. The Jamaican D I put in the smart part freaking exploded. It was just a fresh rooted clone that just stretched out and is now just a couple inches from the XGS(4-5"). No bleaching.... Kinda surprised. I let the chunky D get about 8" away from the RW last time and there were no issues. Have you been finding that you need to adjust ferts like Dxe did in his thread? if you answered this already....to lazy to go back and rescan the thread.
Res, Yeah Gotta feed a little heavier. Noticed it just a little with the AN mostly just with the sweettooth. It's more noticeable with canna and more than one plant. I tried using the dosages a lot of people were saying they ran with the aqua around 8ml/gal of base. I tried it but had to go back up to 12ml/gal. That's why these were a little light in color from the get go. Those couple getting hit with both lights just never got much darker. FF do you dislike that scale too? Lol I don't like that grams are only in whole increments.
Is the yellow look a nute issue or a visual affect of the light spectrum. My plants under hps always turn out red in pics and the LED has a purple tent. Be Cool, CG
No they a definitely wanting more nitrogen. One of my lights is all white, the other is white and red so it Just had a faint red pinkish tone at times or looks similar to the hps depending the angle.
