I'd like to put this in my sig

I'd like to hear your opinion on flushing and foilar feeding sometime

Hey mikey i looked into what you said about the chelated supplementation for the bottled organics cause my only knowledge of organics was from true old school mix your own organics. only messed with AN and pure blend once cause i got free samples. From all that I read on the matter what I'm taking from the information is that what organic compounds are still not water solubile or partially water solubile is reated to make it water soulbile and sounds kind of like the same way you liberate and phase transfer selectively polar molecules to being polar as apposed to nonpolar. But then it falls back to the same thing as the normal organics from what i read its still now readily available and less likely to burn your plants they just make it water soulible but since its still a hydrocarbon its still blocked out by the diffrential permeable as before and still needs futher assistance breaking down. So all in all if you are using the nutes like you mentioned the metnaturals and use a carbohydrate supplement like

cointinued sorry can only type so much on the PS3

molasses or carboload that just helps stimulate the colonies of microbes you have working in conjunction with your plants root system, don't confuse this with mycorrhizae, to stimulate the conversion of matter than can be diffused through the membrane of the roots. So ya you were right about it being mostly water soulible but from what i've read it says the microbe actiobn is still needed to pass the nutes through the membrane that normal locks them out. Better just cut this short cause i'm bout to run out of space again it won't let me type alot in the text box on the PS3 for some reason.

fluchins don't know what you water to hear but water soulible mater is exactly that and will pull it our of the soil by leaching the same thing that happens to heavily fertilized farm land that gets a shit load of ran then the nutes leach out of the dirt and ussual end up in a water supply causing algal blooms in near by bodies of water. BUt flushing just keeps your plant from taking more nutes that may cause harsh burning after being dried/cured. Folar feeding i don't have a nute proba at all the only time i folar feed is in veg with some epsom salt to supplement a little extra magnesium and sulphur. not sure if the sulfur really helps but i've never had a mite problem since, possibly the sulphur residue acts as a mild pesticide. just make sure and wipe off dry residues before flowering those wont taste good in the end!

Just curious as to your view as to the necessity of a flush when you are all organic and everything is going fine....I don't flush prior to harvest...just stop feeding anything new 2 weeks before the chop....have never seen anything noticable between flushed and not flushed.

foilar I use considerably with fish emulsion....come back a couple hours later and hit them with clean water....see a VERY NOTICABLE difference in growth with foilars....

also add epsom salts and a bit of aspirin occasionally, but mostly do this to discourage mildew...

Isn't that what a lot of people call flushing?

I've heard two different definitions of flushing. One is what you just described (giving the plant only water for the last 2 weeks), and the other is running a bunch of clean water through the pot to clear out built up salts.

    my way of flushing....

Yeah your right IMO alienbait...... to me a proper flush is for instance when your plant is ready, fully matured, etc then you stop the nutes and (this is what i do) take the plant to somewhere like a bath/shower or outdoors with a hose and just flush that pot with a several litres depending on pot size(5g usually) till the water is almost about to overflow my pot....

Then i let it drip out all the water,if the water comes out slowly then you got some probs,if the water comes out fast then all good, pop back in the grow room and feed NOTHING for over or a week then flush once more before harvesting and curing. It is apparently meant to make the taste better yada yada but personally iv alwAYS DONE it like this cos thats the way the books i read told me how to do it,i do my own little variation of course,as we all do in growing.

BUT i have heard others describing flushing as feeding the plant water for two weeks before harvesting(i also do this) but a true flush is when you add at least double the pots gallon size in water IMO,iv always did it like this as do other growers round my way and its always the way we flush,i may be wrong but thats what a flush really means to me.Peace:pimp:

That is also my version of a flush....I only do this when I've overfed

    true....

yeah its a good indicator aswell to ppl who may not know they have over fed cos they wil see the nutes slowly draining out instead of clear water pouring out which usually indicates a salt/sodium type build up unless your root bound, etc.:pimp:

I've done a fair amount of research, and testing (myself) on using molasses.

It is great stuff, it simply feeds the soil, which in turn feeds your babies.

It does increase the weight of the buds, alot.

It also improves the flavor of the smoke too.

I use about 2 tablespoons every ten days into one gallon of water.

I start this after my 2nd week of flowering.

I find this works best for me.

    I use grandmas blackstrap molasses.

So far as using it in hydro, I believe it was Randy who asked...

No you can't use it in hydro, but you can use some nutrients which are made from molasses. At the moment I can't remember the brand, but if you PM me, I'll find it out for you.

You post this as if it is for advanced growers, but I disagree, it is simple, and everyone can easily benefit from it. Also it is super cheap!

    Peace

Advanced Nutrients has a product called "Sweet Leaf" and it has high grade molasses, corn syrup, raw cane extract, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm trying it on my current grow. I can't wait to see the difference. The plants seem to have better aroma and sure are a little bit stickier.
