Do these two look similar to eachother? They do to me... Blue Dream (Possibly SSH Pheno?) Super Silver Haze: The Blue Dream is definitely showing Sativa Dominance. This is one I grew from seed, and it looks like this seed might do me proud!
Disco's Garden 8/26/13 New strains have been put into the garden over the past couple weeks, and I have decided to take some pics of my garden. The Jesus OG and White Widow IBLs have been in the flowering room for 10 days now. Neither of them have started to flower yet. I have pre-flowers and a ton of stretch. Woohoo! Also in the room, is a finishing Hawaiian Snow, Blue Dream, White Rhino, and Silver LA. Over the next few weeks, I may get some bud porn. White Widow IBLs: One on right has shown more stretch: D25 Silver LA: Day 10 Jesus OG Females: Plant #1 is bushier and finally starting to take a scent: Plant #5 is 6 inches taller than the other. It's smell is stronger, too: Hawaiian Snow Day 78 (Two weeks left): The fan leaves on the Jesus OG are bigger than my face now! This round should be much more potent, and dialed in for Organics.
New test in the works! MALE POLLEN ISOLATION CHAMBER. I posted a thread in the DIY section about this, but this is going to be my next project on the way to breeding. I have built a cheap isolation chamber using a pc fan, furnace filter, duct tape, and folder tote. I will be putting my Jesus OG Males into this chamber for pollen collection. The only air passing through the chamber, is filtered by the furnace filter which is rated for pollen. If this works, there is a way to have males in flower without your entire crop getting pollinated. Others on the internet, have said that these work and that they have used them for years.
My box has evolved quite a bit with a little thought. The DIY thread has been updated, but here is the finished product before I begin testing. To explain, there is now a separate area between the actual plants, and the solo cups they will go into. This allows me to water without letting pollen out of the chamber. The box also rests on PVC pipes that will elevate and make the box stand up straight.
Disco's Garden 9/9/13 The girls were hungry when I got back from the cup, and it looks like flowering is now in full effect. The White Rhino and Jesus OGs are now at day 24 of 12/12. One of them is showing much more crystals than her sister. Here are the ladies: White Rhino: Jesus OG: Blue Dreams: Silver LA @ Day 40 12/12: The two White Widow IBLs: White Widow IBL #1 and future mother of Mary Magdalane. This pheno is just as bushy as the other, but stretches more: #2:
Let the breeding of Jesus OG Kush and Original White Widow IBL begin! Let the first day of the Mary Magdalene breeding project begin! The males are finally tall enough to get the canopy into the actual pollen chamber. I have sealed the top chamber, with duct tape and neoprene plugs. This should allow me to water into the solo cups below without having pollen get out of the top area. If you were curious, Mary Magdalene is going to be a cross of TGA Jesus OG Kush (Males) X Paradise Original White Widow IBL (Female). I figure this name will suite her just fine! This breeding experiment will give me plenty of F1 hybrids to select out of, because I am using both males to pollinate her. Here are the pics, before going into flower later tonight: I'll keep this going in my log as well, and if this works without pollinating the rest of my crop, I can save some of the pollen for future use and do this some more with a bigger chamber. I'll also build a guide for one of these, and make one that's a little less Jimmy rigged.
Those look good disco. Don't know of I mentioned it but every last one of my Jesus OG died. So fucking pissed about that. I'm lost on your isolation chamber, I don't understand the isolating and watering part. Fwiw, that filter will not stop pollen, pollen is about 25 microns in size, if that's the filter I think it is then pollen is going to go right through it. I have messed around with males a lot in the last couple of years. You don't want them any where near your females.
You're talking about the blue one on top, or the white furnace filter? There is a layer of white filter on both sides of the plastic at each opening. That stuff was rated for pollen at the Home Depot.
I'm talking about the white furnace filter. Pollen is about 25 microns. That filter only does about 200 microns if I am not mistaken. What is the MERV value of the filter?
I'd have to check. I can't remember which one I bought. I'll get back to you, once I know. Either way, I'm moving in 10 days to a place where I could have separate areas. More specifically, a Bedroom and a full basement to do everything else in.
8 is what they said on the site. It was the Reem Dust and Pollen one. Also, there is only like 30 CFM total on the fan right now. There is very restricted airflow through the box to begin with.
Nice. I like the breeding chamber on the cheap. I just got my box that I will be using for my breeding project. Mine is about 3' wide 2' deep and 4' tall. It has a couple 4' T12 Fluoros on both side walls and a 150 watt HPS above. It needs some serious TLC but once I get some filters and a new fan and do a little bit of shoring up on the seams to make sure it's sealed well, I'll be starting my breeding project. What made you choose the initial cross you're working with? The White Widow as the mother right? And the Jesus OG as the father? Are you just doing a one off F1 hybrid or are you breeding with a specific purpose and planning on taking to to further generations?
I really liked the genetic background of both strains so I figured they would be a good cross. The name was there, too. Jesus OG is Hell's OG x Jack the Ripper The WW IBL was Ingemar's mother and father crossed. I don't know how far in they took them before making fems.
Cool. The Jesus OG looks like a good strain. My male I have to work with is a nice short, fat Tahoe x Bubba/Afghan from Fusion. I'll be making a few different crosses and then dive into them looking for something unique to improve upon with some back crossing and inbreeding to stabilize the strain as best I can. I think every grower dreams of having their own strain. That's my goal.
I've got two jack the rippers going outside right now. It's very sativa dominant and has a weird smell, almost like sugar coated lemons, I had some killing fields that smelled exactly the same. I'ts frosting up real nice. I tied one down a couple of months ago so that the branches went out instead of up. It looks like it would be real bushy if I had not done that. I made a cross with it using a male sannies jack f7 and the female jtr. I call it Jack Squared. I haven't grown it out yet though so I don't know if it's any good. The cheese krush I made, it picked up the smell of the cheesequake and the structure and density of the ko kush, it's real resiny too. I'm really looking forward to smoking it. You'l probably end up like me when it comes to breeding and crossing, hooked!
I've been watching that Cheese Krush! It looks like a nice plant! I'm hoping that I can get a Sativa Dom Mary Magdalene, and inbreed her til she's stable. I want the OG trichs, White Widow Structure, and JTR fuck you up head high!
The Disco Zone 9/26 The room is slowly coming together, and I have transferred the flowering plants over to the new tent. They are currently in a 5x4 with a 600w Ushio Hi-Lux Opti-Red bulb.
