Harvest day for Mary Magdalene and Blue Alien It's Harvest day for two of the ladies, and I am indeed going to be thanking DJ Short for the 11/13 cycle. Holy Shitballs! Disco Industries Mary Magdalene #1: Blue Alien: I've also been toying with putting rapid rooters in my aquaponics system. I found Mary Magdalene like this the other day, so I'd say fish work quite well! I may do some MJ plants in an AP table sometime within the next year. If it works, I won't be using any fertilizers anymore.
A major change has happened at the Disco-Zone, and this is the start of many tests to come. I have converted myself to cloning entirely with Aquaponics, and also have a table that I am keeping mothers and fathers on. This newer method of cloning (for me) has helped me achieve much healthier clones. Below is a picture of my cloner. I have a much larger table (2x3) where I am currently keeping a few mothers and fathers, and also growing a few other food items. I have Ghost Peppers and Habaneros growing on my main table, too. This is a very fun hobby!
So what I have there is a basic continuous flow table with the water level set at 2.5 inches. With hydroponics, you use a reservoir to hold all of your water/nutes before they get pumped out to your plants. This is the same case with Aqauponics, except for the fact that there are living creatures in your reservoir. Aquaponics is a cross between Aquaculture and Hydro. I am raising fish for food, and using the poop and nutrients in the water to feed my plants. The set-up above, is a 20 gallon breeder tank that has a pump inside of it. The water is pumped through the half inch line, and up to the table where it is cleaned by the roots and aerorocks. After it is cycled through the table, the excess water goes back down into the aquarium, cleaner than it was before.
One of the Dark Shadow Haze phenos is taking root on the mini Aquaponic system. Here's a photo showing that the cloner works.
Thanks RR! Your shared wisdom about fish poop helped get my quest started a long time ago. I knew organic was going to be the only way I ever tried hydro, so Aquaponics is a good fit there. I haven't tried flowering anything yet, but that's where my next group of experiments are going to be aimed. I now know with much time and testing, that Aquaponics is viable for both cloning and the vegetative state of growth. We will see in the future if it works as well for flowering.
My DJ Short's Blueberry cut is getting pretty big, so I am thinking about flowering her in the near future. I guess my friend is telling me that his circle has found a way better Blueberry cut than the Dabney or DJ Short's. I may be bringing this new cut into the mix. I personally really like this cut, so we'll do a side by side in the future once that other girl comes. Here's DJ Short's Blueberry: I have also been keeping fathers around. Here is my Blackwater Male: The camera that I have is only in focus half the time, and that is because the auto focus is messed up. Please excuse the fuzziness of some of my photos.
Grape Ape has come down at 10 weeks in the Disco-Zone! It was time to get some Purple back up in here! In other news... a Blue Hawaiian, my old Purple Kush S1 cut, and a Tangerine Dream Seedling have started their way along on the veg side. This Blue Hawaiian cut was created before Vancouver Seed Company began selling their stock. It's the same lineage, but a selected pheno. And just because I have this damn song stuck in my head now...
